Camp Ling – Week 2, Day 2 – Sanity Is Spied!

We make you beg for mercy!Morning!

You know, last year at this time…I had a blast overseeing Camp Ling and ensuring my kids kept up to date with their academics, science, creativeness and the like.

This year, I’m seeing them actually learn things on their own, without Mom breathing down their necks….so I confess, I’m kinda enjoying taking it a weee bit easy.  :)

Yesterday, I packed up the kids (okay, woke ‘em up early) and we moseyed on over to the baseball diamond at a local park.  There, Honorable Daughter I jogged 6 laps, the rest of the kids between 3 and 5 laps, and yours truly manfully pulled out 10 non-stop laps as well.

Needless to say, the kids were surprised I didn’t give up.  Heck, so was I, but as I believe showing a good example is one of THE most critical things a parent can do, I figured I could collapse in a writhing heap after I had returned home and took a hot bath.  :)

My kids are blogging their hearts out!  It’s truly a wondrous feeling when you realize you just can’t teach them ANYTHING about being unique – their styles are already one-of-a-kind.  I wouldn’t tamper with them!

Today, we’ll continue with our karate katas and our other physical fun-ness.  Sparring is this afternoon, and hopefully I’ll be able to return to my adult sparring as well.  It’s quite energizing.

Time to start the morning,

Barbara

Hi Barbara – sounds like you’re having a blast.  You must be really fit to run further than teens.

Barbara,
I very much like to read about you and your kids having fun (and your kid learn things on their own). Regarding your sports activities I can only sit there reading it with my mouth open. I am doing a bit of walking myself – but never would dream of being able to do things like karate…

I’m finding at 43…my life is just beginning.  Okay, that’s not true at all  :)   BUT I’m learning that there are whole new areas in which I can learn, if I choose to give myself permission to try my best.

It’s lots of fun.  :)

Enjoy,

Barbara
