Today is the 4th of July, a time in America where evening fireworks light up the skyline, people enjoy the outdoor activities and peace and tranquility reign freely across the nation.
Oh, and the time where bunches of kids and adults alike blow themselves apart as well.
A zany not-exactly-overprotective mom myself (my typical reaction to my kids being pummeled at karate, for example, generally is, "why didn’t you ask for more?"), I live in an area where fireworks are happily illegal. I still do have lazy hazy memories of sparklers when I was a kid ("Mom! Morning!
How things change when your outlook is adjusted.
Now that I know what paths I can take with my left ankle (orthotics tomorrow, surgery perhaps sometime), I’ve given myself permission to regain my confidence regarding Martial Arts. It was a very bad few days prior to that; I hate second-guessing myself.
But! Yesterday I did do adult karate/sparring and did NOT sit it out. Yay! True, I kept repeating to myself, I can DO this, and also true, my technique is non-existent in sparring, but hey…it was a start once agian. Yay!

Sunday quiet days, RocketMoms, forum hacks and more

I’m pleased to announce that my family had a simply wondrous restful weekend for the most part (yay!). Nothing really too new and/or exciting; kids can’t wait for the anime conference next Saturday (nor for school to end!), I’m preparing Camp Ling, and….wait a sec! Camp Ling! Must explain about that but first….

In other news…..
CAMP LING!
Yes, this will be the 5th year I’ve run Camp Ling, yay! Camp Ling, for those not in the know, is the spine-tingling excitement that I prepare for my kids during the 3 months of summer.
This year, academics-wise, the girls will be focusing upon creative writing and the boys will work on just plain writing/grammar and math.
Fun-wise, we’ll be doing the usual hunt-for-sharks-teeth, visit the science museum, run the mooses, hack the weeds and all that.
And because my kids are finally realizing that hey! Mom refuses to spend money on idjut things!, they all want to make money this summer too.
Thus, I’ll be teaching them how to blog, how to set up Squidoo lenses, how to drive traffic from one area to another, how to set up affiliate programs, etc.etc.etc.
I mentioned this to several karate moms, and they wanted to learn the techniques too! One idea led to another, and thus the first Virtual Coach Inner Circle was born:

I’m charging only $10 for three months, and will be showing other parents the step-by-step ways they can help their kids (heck, even themselves) profit online. Should be fun!

Magnificent Sears Repair to the Rescue!
Morning!
You might remember last month, my beloved washing machine entered into a fit of doom and despair.
I tweeted about it and within hours, Sears Customer Care responded to my tale of woe! The next day my issue was solved along with a complimentary service call too.
Well, zoom up to last Friday - said washing machine gleefully told me, Ha ha! I’ll stop working again!
Which it did. Most dramatically too, I might add.
Wah! Not to be deterred, however, I summoned once again the Sears White Knights and asked for assistance….not only did I get another service call yesterday, but I was also offered a free one year warranty on my mechanical beastie.

Memorial Day, Squidoo and more!
Morning,
Well! I hope your Memorial Day weekend was most peachy indeed! The husband and I packed in the Ling clan and visited a picnic/benefit down by the racetrack. Note to Mom - I’ve never been to a racetrack before, and let me tell you….I know exactly what I’m missing (ie, not much for me!). Racing just isn’t my thing whatsoever, but the kids had a grand time.
Workwise, the forums are swimming along most wonderfully indeed! I recently became inspired to teach myself about Squidoo, and found it to be so enticing, I added an entire Squidoo Marketing category! HUGE amount of work looming

Hopefully I can get back into my "updating my personal blog every day" mode!
I just took a look at some of my old portal sites, and realized….a few years ago, I put several of them on hold until I could revamp the entire design. That’s money being lost right there - I need to rebuild them yesterday!
Joy. On top of finishing my book Income Fitness and answering questions at the forum, I hereby proclaim…I will have no life.
Life-wise, however, things have been going very well. Honorable Daughter I performed in her jazz band concert yesterday, and it was a pleasure to see her wail away on the trumpet. Funny note - the orchestra played ‘Variations on a Korean Folksong’….which I played myself ‘way back when, 30+ years ago!! Talk about memories.
Physically-wise, my leg is giving me grief again..I’m going to have to visit my doctor and see what’s causing it to deterioate. Wah. And Honorable Boy 2-wise, methinks I’m going to have to bust him back in his karate belt level unless his attitude improves. All he does need is a dose of maturity…but wow, it’s awhiles in coming.

Are you aware of how truly wondrous Microsoft Power point can really be?
I just finished designing a rather magnificent presentation for a client, and in the process taught myself bleeploads of nifty animation techniques!
But not only that…did you know you can create YouTube videos from Powerpoint as well?
