So!  Yesterday you heard about Fiverr….today, let's focus on using Fiverr as a buyer.

The thing is, just like everywhere in life, you can have wonder experiences or scammy experiences.  But the good news is that you can train yourself to adroitly avoid those pitfalls!

Let's begin with:

Step 1 – Review Seller's Feedback

Thinking about buying a gig?

First…check out their feedback!

You'll always be able to find out their feedback at

You can see the numbers of orders in queue, how long the turn around time is, etc.

Regarding feedback, remember too – it can always be faked.

However, you should be able to get a good sense for how dependable the individual is.

Next,

Step 2 – See How New The Gig Provider Is.

Notice when the person joined Fiverr. 

So, if the person just joined and has 456 gigs listed….one would think, take another detailed look-see.

Always keep your eyes open for things that appear too good to be true.

They probably are.

And finally:

Step 3 – See If The Product *Itself* Is Too Good To Be True

Are you being promised 20 uniquely written articles that pass a Copyscape test?

How on earth could that be done without using spin software that might fool search engines…but not the people who judge your blog?

Are you being promised a unique niche website that will rank in zillions of dollars?

How will you get the traffic to it?

Always but always apply the same caution to Fiverr that you should apply to IM in general!

Ever hear of it?

It's what's called a "Micro Job site" – ie, people charge $5 to provide you with a service.

Sounds baffling a bit, doesn't it? 

If so, don't worry – you're not alone!  I myself was completely surprised a year ago or so when I first came across it…I mean, who on earth would change *only* $5 for their services?

Turns out, quite a lot indeed!

So let's first start with:

Step 1 – Fiverr At A Glance

The following….says it all.

So at first glance, it appears to be rather, ahem….bizarre?

But take a deeper look.

It sure seems easy, right?

And easy means you'll get more buyers and more visibility.

How?  Well, let's first look at:

Step 2 – Fiverr As A Buyer

You can outsource on Fiverr and buy marketing actions that generally eat up bunches of your own time.

Say,

• Backlinking
• Liking stuff on Facebook
• Tweeting
• SEO

For example:

Step 3 – Fiverr As A Seller

Do you want to make money at 5 bucks a shot?

Well, let's say that you have a huge Twitter following.

Or a big huge Facebook Fans number.

Or can take a look at a webpage and immediately tell the owner what needs to be done to help SEO.

You can advertise that on Fiverr as a seller!  If your business gig requires only 5 minutes of your time….that's a truly easy $5 right there.

But (and as you'll see in later lessons), you can do ever so much more with Fiverr…including….building a passive sales funnel that continues to deliver money to you as well as building your list.

Fiverr is a rather neat concept and depending upon how you immerse yourself in it…could end up making you a very nice additional income stream indeed.

Before You Begin

Today is Day 3 in my tutorial about SOPA, Internet marketing and you…and for today, I want to walk you through just how SOPA could affect you in the future.

Let's say that you promote affiliate links on your site.

And let's say that one of those affiliate links contains a copyright image.

BAM!  Not only cold that affiliate product be shut down from the Internet, but also your site as well (because you included a link to a product that violated the legislation).

So your site gets effectively blacklisted and disappears from the Internet with no due course for debating it.

Ick!

That's bad enough for your business, but now let's also take a peek at:

Step 1 – Take a look at your favorite marketing forums

What if someone spams a warez link to it?

Or links to copyright material?

BAM!  Site goes byebye but more importantly…..

Your networking goes byebye too.

The Warrior Forum is down today in protest of SOPA, did you know that?  Think now how many thousands of marketers are dead in the water.  Right now.  With no recourse possible.

Thought-provoking, aye?

Step 2 – Take a look at YouTube

Can you begin to imagine how many videos there contain copyright material?

So say goodbye to YouTube as well!  To wit:

Before You Begin

SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act) is an act that wants to stop online piracy (ie, sharing without paying) of entertainment material online.  The Entertainment industry loves it.

The thing is for small entrepreneurs like you and me is…your site could be blacklisted whether it's your fault or not.

Step 1.)  SOPA 101

SOPA 101 is simple.  You are responsible for *everything* that appears on your site.

• Including comments.
• And forum posts.
• And shared pictures.

For example, Copyblogger mentions:

… Have a commenter who links to a site that uses a copyrighted image inappropriately?

SOPA says that makes you liable to the full extent of its broad enforcement powers. Those include shutting off your domain name to censor your site, or cutting off your PayPal account.

A site can be shut down for a single infringing link — even if it’s a link you didn’t post….MORE….

Think about this now.  Let's say that I'm engaged at commenting thoughtfully at a niche blog, and include a supporting reference to a youtube video…one that I *didn't *know contained copywrited material.  Ooopsie, that blog has now entered the Potential To Be Hosed zone. 

What does that mean?

It means your DNS could be blocked/blacklisted by the Attorney General so your site *disappears* from the Internet.

SOPA – Stop Online Pirating Act.

Have you heard about it yet?

Basically, it's a flawed way of preventing online stealing of content.  Sounds easy, eh?

Well, check out this description by The Verge:

….Stands like these are an important touchpoint when you read or hear about the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, and its sister bill in the Senate, the Protect IP Act, or PIPA. Both bills attempt to deal with online sites that traffic in illegally copied content, but at extreme cost of remaking the architecture of the internet itself. That’s a high price to pay, especially since neither bill will actually curb real piracy: SOPA and PIPA are the effective equivalent of blowing up every road, bridge, and tunnel in New York to keep people from getting to one bootleg stand in Union Square — but leaving the stand itself alone…. So by now, you're probably wondering: "Jeepers!  What *Is* SOPA and why should I care?"

So glad you asked!

The C|NEt article, "How SOPA would affect you: FAQ" describes it nicely:

"Q: What's the justification for SOPA and Protect IP?
Two words: rogue sites.

 

That's Hollywood's term for Web sites that happen to be located in a nation more hospitable to copyright infringement than the United States is (in fact, the U.S. is probably the least hospitable jurisdiction in the world for such an endeavor). Because the target is offshore, a lawsuit against the owners in a U.S. court would be futile….MORE…."

It's touted as a way to stop online piracy, but can go far far *far* further along the path to the Dark Side.  David Hall wrote a great article about it, to wit…

…To me, SOPA has got it all wrong. In the past, if we purchased a record, tape, or CD, we were free to lend it to a friend. If we shared similar tastes in movies, we could arrange a DVD swap, right? But if I buy a song on iTunes, I can’t share a copy with my friends. Huh? The flow of information on the internet doesn’t mesh with the archaic revenue model for the large entertainment industry, but instead of updating the model, a government-run censorship of the internet is what we may be faced with….MORE….

1. Death Penalty For Online Businesses: SOPA authorizes sites that are reported for copyright infringement to be cut off from their domain name. ISPs can force advertisers and payment processors to suspend their services to the site.
2. Sites Blocked And Sued For User Content: Sites which host copyright content uploaded by users can be blacklisted and blocked via ISPs, search engines and payment processors. This can be done without the benefit of a court hearing.
3. Copyright Holders Can Sue Sites: Sites hosting copyrighted material uploaded unknowingly by users can be sued now and held accountable. Such sites have to comply within 5 days or risk total loss.
4. Social Media Held Accountable: Social Media sites such as FaceBook will be held accountable for every copyright violation that their users commit. These sites will now be forced to proactively censor user content.…MORE….

In a nutshell, the SOPA and PIPA internet bills would give the attorney general the ability to create a site blacklist to be blocked by service providers…all without a court hearing or trial.

Not good…not good indeed.
