Howdy!

I have one simple question for you.

Let's say that you have a local business, oh, say, hmmm…..recruiting.  Headhunting!  In other words, you match quality local job seekers with local positions.

With me so far?

Obviously, if your service is in another industry, replace that mental image with yours. 

Anywhos!  Let's say now that your local recruiting businesses specializes in the IT sector.  Things like web development, ajax, enterprise, networking, joomla….thingees of that nature.

Again, with me so far?

Alrighty!  NOW….let's take a look at some of what you're selling (in this case, it would be your job offers).

• You might have a local job that's targeted to a unix systems administrator.
• You might have another local job (in a different town) that's focused instead of on customer call centers.
• You could have the third job that is desperately searching for a quality project manager to oversee vast Windows development.

Let's now assume the locality in question is Queensboro, Florida.

Take a look at those 3 thingees you're selling:

• Unix sysadmin job in Queensboro, FL
• Customer call center manager in Queensboro, FL
• Project manager in Windows Environment in Queensboro, FL

Now…let me ask you.

Do you think there will be people who search for

• unix jobs queensboro FL
• call center jobs queensboro florida
• windows project management jobs (florida | FL)

That's called a Long Tail Keyword search (meaning…while it might not show up very often at all, chances are…if someones searching for something that specific, they're more than just a tire-kicker).

Wouldn't it be peachy indeed if your company's local business site showed up in the top 10 for these searches?

And this isn't applicable JUST for recruiting businesses – let's take, oh, hmmm….real estate too!

Some people might search for

• apartments in queensboro FL
• cheap ranch house Florida
• mother daughter house Queensboro FL
• 2 story entrance huse for sale queensboro FL

and if you were a Realtor instead…wouldn't it be just dandy if your local business site rose up to the top 10?

It's easy to do!!

All you have to do is take what you're offering (job listings, house listings, etc) and build a page that focuses SPECIFICALLY on that topic.

Think about the benefits that will offer both you and visitors from Google to your site. 

Here's two of them:

Service-related keywords are automatically included.

Job posts will always include the skills required, the acronyms involved, the certifications appreciated, etc.etc.etc.  All of those are important keywords!  And because those pages would appear on your local business site, your local keywords (state, town, etc.) would be included as well.

And house descriptions – the same thing!  And just about anything else you can sell locally..the same idea holds.

You'll be giving visitors EXACTLY what they're looking for.   This makes Google happy.

The fact is that specific service-related pages on your site give your visitors just what they're looking for.  After all, what ELSE would have 'project management jobs in Queensboro, FL' except for…well, project management job-related pages?

The same things holds for other optimized pages as well.

If that's not worthy of a peach-filled orchard, I don't know what is! 

Thus….take a long hard look at what local services/products you offer…and then see how you can craft long-tail search keywords to target those phrases. 

I'll bet you dollars to donuts it will help you increase your bottom line…quite dramatically indeed!

Hey there!

So!  What do you think of my nifty neat bookcover? Ain’t it purty-like? 

I’m just about done with the second book in the Income Fitness series entitled:

Easy Free Local High SEO…in 24 Hours or LESS

and true to form….instead of completing the last chapter, I opted instead to parallel-process and design the ebook cover instead.  Hey, it has to get done anyways….

I’ll have to admit it...I enjoyed writing this.   Local SEO is something with which I’ve NEVER had a problem since the dawn of SEO back in 1997 or so …. (and I’m now methodically going for achieving high SEO as well for the impossible-to-rank keywords too!).

But this book…this simply reveals the techniques I’ve been employing for over a decade to achieve high visibility for just about any local keyword imaginable. 

Compared to Book 1 of Income Fitness, it’s considerably shorter (hopefully clocking in at less than 100 pages) and will most likely retail for less than the $37 of Book 1.

There’s always a method to me madness – Book 1 is the foundation upon which you can build a healthy, stable income that lasts a lifetime.  Every that I write from that point on will truly benefit from you having read Book 1.

All the future books…these can be considered as add-ons and more in-depth explorations for mastering particular aspets of Internet marketing (in this case, local SEO).

So….stay tuned!  Ideally…Book II should be coming to the Internet soon….to YOU.

Don’t Game Google – Stick with the SEO classics instead

Wasn’t that simple?

I’ve been doing SEO now since 1997 (back when Infospace did real time indexing, amind you), and for the past 12 years, the following has been delightfully true.

Optimize your headers, your URL, your title, your internal links and your content structure…and chances are, that BY ITSELF will shoot your SEO (especially long-tailed SEO) quite high indeed.

True, there’s much more than site creation and structure involved for attaining high SEO….but you certainly can NOT go wrong by embracing the classic ideas!

Well, you might know that you can add alt tags for images (this allows you to display a few words while the image is loading). 

Did you know…there’s a plugin that does this for you?

It’s called:

SEO Friendly Images WordPress Plugin

Let’s say that you’re writing a post about your flower shop in West Orange, Florida.  You can add an image that has the filename "flower-shop-west-orange.jpg" and the above plugin will automatically add

"flower shop west orange"

to your alt tag.

Neat, eh?  Remember, when it comes to local SEO….every little bit counts!

Want quick local high SEO tip?

Check out this search:

intitle:uncategorized

It’s going to return to you all the WordPress blogs whose owners have yet to change the default category name (which is "Uncategorized").

Can you believe that?  Over 2.9 million results!

If you still have an uncategorized category in YOUR site, you’re throwing out potential high SEO (search engine optimization). 

Instead, why not CHANGE the category to something more user or SEO-friendly?

Let’s say that your site deals with making money.  You could use "tips" or "lessons" for your main category name.

Do you focus on biking instead?  What about "General Bike"?

Is your niche frugality?  You can consider "Savings" or "Lessons" or ….

See?

In a nutshell:

WordPress offers you TONS of local SEO opportunities.

You only need to take advantage of them.

Here’s a quick video on how to change your WordPress categories (and if you’re like me and don’t like videos, you can simply go to your WordPress Dashboard, choose "Categories" under the Posts tab, and change the name to whatever you’d like.    )

Morning!

And how is the world treating you today?  Over here in LingLand, there are ferocious thunderstorms that are wreaking havoc across my town.  Luckily, however, the power has yet to be hit….and so I can continue to blog!  Yay!

But I digress. 

Tell me now, and be honest.  Do you have a local niche blog…and want to achieve top 10 SEO results?

You see, I have been doing SEO now since back when Infoseek did real-time indexing of webpages (1997), and some things simply just don’t change.  It’s actually quite easy to gain high visibility relatively easy for specific niche keywords!  All you have to do is provide quality, worthwhile content while taking care of some common-sense design features like title tags, H1 and H2s…and the rest just follow.

Let me give you an example.  Let’s say, oh, you’re a neuropsychologist and serve towns including Union, NJ (but you’re not based there, remember).

You’ll see:

Dr. Ilyse O’Desky and Associates, Pediatric Neuropsychologist, NJ …

Presentations & Publications – Traumatic Brain Injury Model System

followed by 82,000 or so more results.

I built the site of Dr. O’Desky, the first one returned.

Other local sites I’ve built rank just as high. 

I don’t focus on Web 2.0, I don’t focus on flash, all I care about is writing superb content that Google and other search engines reward.

You see, the nice thing about local site SEO is that your competition is ‘way ‘way WAY different than the typical ‘make money via keyword SEO’ stuff.   Instead of doing all that blasted keyword research and algorithm thingees and the like, you can focus upon simply building a superb site that ranks high naturally.
