Morning!

You know, if there's one thing in life that frustrates me to no end…it's a lack of coffee.

But…you probably know that by now, aye? 

Seriously, though, if there's one thing I hate in life, it's losing weight.

Well, actually, not *losing* weight (I love that!), it's more of the black arts that are entwined with how one's weight comes off.

It's maddening, I tell you!  During 2007-2008, I lost 50+ pounds, weighing in at most likely much more than 177 and ending up at my lowest being 126.  And for the past 3 years or so, I've more or less kept it stable to 130 (my body simply seems much happier at 130, don't ask me why).

Well!

Last Thursday, my family and I jaunted off to North Carolina to help a good friend move.  Prior to leaving, I was 130 pounds.

NC, if you're not aware, has Chinese buffets.  How's that for generalization?  Not only Chinese buffets, but *cheap* Chinese buffets!  And Krispy Kreme donuts!

And as I'm only human, I too am capable of yielding to the "I'm on vacation, why bother exercising?" routine that many peoples have!

When I returned home 6 days later, that evening….

• I was 138.

8 whole pounds *gained*!

But!

The next day…

• I was 135.

And the day after…

• I was 133.

And yesterday…

• I was 132.

Today…

• I'm 131.

Now, let's do some math, okay?

From Thursday until this morning..it's been less than 4 days.

Less than 4 days in which I dropped from 138 to 131 pounds.

And what did I eat during those 3+ days?

• Nothing spectacular, I simply returned to my way of healthy eating, plus restarted my daily exercises.

And the weight just melted off!

But….

*Weight!*

*Weight a second!*

(Dontcha love the way I spelled 'wait'?    )

Theoretically, I did *not* lie.

But I sure did let you draw your own conclusions!

You see, what I wrote above…is 100% true.  I did gain 8 pounds and I did lose 7 of them.

But I'm almost totally confident that happened because….

The weight gain was water weight/currently-processed, ummm, digested food in my colon.

So after the water left my cells, and after I enjoyed a well-deserved plop in the bathroom, voila…my weight returned to basically what I had started out with.

Now, if I were an unscrupulous marketer, I could whip up a diet and weight loss product that claims, "Lose 6 pounds in 2 days, guaranteed!", based upon my experiences.

After all, it's just plain common sense.

You'll weigh more after eating 5 pounds of Chinese buffet food.

And while that food is still digesting within you, you'll still have an increase of poundage from the scales.

But after you plop it out, bam!  That weight has literally left your body. 

It's like those stupid dippy Miracle Cleanse thingees – get rid of the stuff in your colon and, well, you lose weight.

Common sense.

But for many Americans who crave the quick fix and zero effort, it could be made to seem like the easiest weight loss adventure imaginable!

Which is why it's so easy to make diet or weight loss infomercials – take what makes sense and would happen with anyone and then twist the circumstances around it to make it see, like it works in *all* situations.

Sad, really.

So!  If you balloon up from a week-long binge on luscious Chinese buffet food and Krispy Kreme donuts, but then return to your normal healthy way of eating….never fear.

I'd reckon…the weight should come off relatively easily.

'Branding' is the art of getting known in your customers' eyes.  To quote the American Marketing Society, a brand is a "…name, term, sign, symbol or design, or a combination of them intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of other sellers."

Thus, you want to make yourself unforgettable in the eyes of your customers.

Luckily, there are tons of exciting resources and blogs out there that can get you started on your merry way!

Begin with:

Brand Simple

Personal Branding Blog

You should definitely add those blogs to your feedreader so you can be alerted every time something new and useful to your business shows up!

Got that?

Alrighty, but before we go, let me ask you one simple question, might?

What makes you *essential* to achieving your customer's goals?

Are you known for always finding the *best* solution for your customers?

Or perhaps…do you know *how* to teach so your words aren't instantly rejected because they focus on the long-term efforts and *not* the quick fix?

What about style? 

Are you the type of customer provider who can nuture when necessary, transform yourself into Sargent  Slaughter when needed, and then revert back to Molly Muffin if gentleness is required?

Hmmm?

What about your delivery times?

Can you bite the bullet and cause miracles to manifest themselves when your customers are utterly desperate for guidance….ideally, yesterday

Now, here's the most important question…

Is what you've said….self-evident on your site?

You only have one chance to make a smashing first impression….so you always want to ensure that your skills, your qualities, your utter magnificence to how you're the answer to your customer's most fervent dreams….is immediately obvious.

Such a bold statement…can only make your sales levels go up.

And that, of course, is a Very Good Thing indeed.

Good morning!

If you've been recently quick-frozen in carbonite, you've probably not been made aware that there's a NEW way to create Facebook fan pages.

Long long ago, back before the earth's crust cooled, I had a rather godlike sensei who told me the following wisdom.

"If you don't like the game you're currently in….change the game."

Now, keep in mind we were talking about self-defense and martial arts, of course.
