Stop the world, I want to sleep off

Welcome! If you're new to my site, click HERE to let me show you where the best benefits for yourself are located. Thanks for visiting!

Well, actually, that’s not REALLY the case…it’s just that my get up and go…got up and went and was last seen snoozing by an all-night Starbucks shop.  :)

The good news is my family is entirely healthy, yay!  The bad news is yep, I’m relapsing a tad.  But hey, so long as everyone else is okay, I’ll recover in my own time (ideally by the 4th, as the Ling Clan is dying to see the fireworks extravaganza.  Wheeee.  Not).

What else?  Well, all 4 kids are building their own sites, yay!  Honorable Boy 1 and Honorable Boy 2 are using Wix.com - it’s a drag-and-drop flash thingee that makes site creation very easy.  And the girls have their own blogs that are coming along most peachy indeed. Read more »

Really sick husband, Camp Ling, getting sick again, etc.

Eeek!Morning all,

Well!  Now that I’ve fully recovered, my husband came down with the same illness but far worse than anyone else in the family.  :(  To hell with adult karate yesterday; I shunned that and spent the evening taking care of him.  This morning, he’s a bit better and it does look like the worst is over.  But we’ll see; I just made him an awesome Soup of Wonders that should assist in recovery (gourmet cooking is one of my hidden trademarks).

Life just ain’t okay if the husband is sick.  :(

‘course, with the running around I’ve been doing with Camp Ling and such, I’m now feeling twinges of the virus returning so I started a massive homeotherapy campaign (I really don’t have the time now to get sick AGAIN!).   Such is the life of your typical all-powerful Mother Unit.

How to stop kids from bullying, sharks teeth and more

School ended yesterday!  Wheeeee!

But first, let’s get the business goodies out of the way.

Forums are going well (and I have to send out my ezine!  Note to self - do that!) as you can see:

and I also wrote:

Squidoo-wise, Honorable Boy 1 and Honorable Girl 2 both had unique encounters with bullying, which led me to create:

Lose Weight guaranteed, ankles recasted and more!

Lose WeightMorning!

Well!  Lots of updates and most wonderfully as well, they’re all good.  :)

Lessee….first off, I built the lens

How to Lose Weight - Guaranteed!

It describes the steps I took from 2006 on for losing 52+ pounds.  I’m interested in seeing the reactions - many folks think ANYTHING regarding to weight loss HAS to be a scam; these ideas are the farthest thing from such a concept.

New lenses, new hacky sacks, new self-confidence, new ….

Morning!

How things change when your outlook is adjusted.

Now that I know what paths I can take with my left ankle (orthotics tomorrow, surgery perhaps sometime), I’ve given myself permission to regain my confidence regarding Martial Arts.  It was a very bad few days prior to that; I hate second-guessing myself.

But!  Yesterday I did do adult karate/sparring and did NOT sit it out.  Yay!  True, I kept repeating to myself, I can DO this, and also true, my technique is non-existent in sparring, but hey…it was a start once agian.  Yay!

Squidoo-wise, I’m making/updating some rather nifty lenses:

Dr. Michael Cunningham, Orthopedics in Holmdel, Monmouth County (and why I’m blogging about him)

Orthopaedic surgeryToday has been most fascinating indeed!

First off, if you’re looking to schedule an appointment with Dr. Cunningham, the Orthopedic surgeon based in Hazlet, Monmouth County NJ, there’s his new information:

Dr. Cunningham, MD, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine (NJ)
New Phone Number: 732-850-2666
733 N Beers Street, Suite L3
Holmdel, NJ  07733

Got that?  Alrighty then, onto why I’m blogging about him!

You see, 2 years ago or so, I saw him in reference to my MHE problem (a doorknob on my femur - you can see that lovely picture over at my Fab Fit mom site).  He ended up referring me to a bone tumor doctor (Dr. Wittig, another excellent surgeon), who removed that bone beastie in November of 2007.  I’m happy to report that surgery has healed beautifully!

Well, another MHE problem has cropped up - my left ankle is majorily squooshed to the side due to an exostoses that prevented normal bone development between my tibula and my fibular.

I remembered visiting Dr. Cunningham ‘way back when….so I just returned from his office today.

He gave me several potential future scenarios - get my orthotics recasted (that’s a definite), and possibly get my ankle restructured (but there’s no guarantee of success there, it’s major surgery that would require pediatric bone specialists).

Thus….I just returned back from Nouveau Prosthetics (I used to see Bobby from Manfredi Orthotics but they no longer take my insurance, wah).  They’re going to call me back later on to tell me if I’m fully covered or not.

And we shall see what we shall see.  As my mom adds….when we see it.  :)

If you’re looking for a great Orthopedic surgeon, definitely contact Dr. Cunningham.  He’s recently moved from Ani Orthopedics to his new location over on N. Beers Street.  The office is warm and friendly and I can give my whole experience a "2 thumbs up!"; he is local to Monmouth county towns such as Holmdel, Hazlet, Middletown, Red Bank, Keansburg, Aberdeen, Keyport and more.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

Sunday quiet days, RocketMoms, forum hacks and more

Rocket Moms!Morning!

I’m pleased to announce that my family had a simply wondrous restful weekend for the most part (yay!).  Nothing really too new and/or exciting; kids can’t wait for the anime conference next Saturday (nor for school to end!), I’m preparing Camp Ling, and….wait a sec!  Camp Ling!  Must explain about that but first….

Business wise!  We had some great questions on the forum like

A really great lens by Ulla over at

and a new lens by me:

And!  Guess what - I’ve been accepted into the RocketMoms Squidoo group!  I’m utterly thrilled about this - I’ve always said the best way to learn something new is to learn from the best…and the women in that group are far and away BEYOND the best.  Very happy indeed!

In other news…..

CAMP LING!

Yes, this will be the 5th year I’ve run Camp Ling, yay!  Camp Ling, for those not in the know, is the spine-tingling excitement that I prepare for my kids during the 3 months of summer.

This year, academics-wise, the girls will be focusing upon creative writing and the boys will work on just plain writing/grammar and math.

Fun-wise, we’ll be doing the usual hunt-for-sharks-teeth, visit the science museum, run the mooses, hack the weeds and all that.

And because my kids are finally realizing that hey! Mom refuses to spend money on idjut things!, they all want to make money this summer too.

Thus, I’ll be teaching them how to blog, how to set up Squidoo lenses, how to drive traffic from one area to another, how to set up affiliate programs, etc.etc.etc.

I mentioned this to several karate moms, and they wanted to learn the techniques too!  One idea led to another, and thus the first Virtual Coach Inner Circle was born:

Kids Make Money Summer 2009

I’m charging only $10 for three months, and will be showing other parents the step-by-step ways they can help their kids (heck, even themselves) profit online.  Should be fun!

And that was me Sunday,

Barbara Ling

The past week of wonders!

My gosh, it’s already Saturday!  How time flies indeed.

Hope your week has been as, ahem, exciting as mine!!  For the most part, it was supremely super news, but let’s first get the ick stuff out of the way.

My ankle is still giving me major problems.  :(  And idjut that I am, I’m kinda sorta resisting getting it checked out…something for which I’d be most perturbed at my kids if they were that foolish!!

I suppose I plain just don’t want to deal with this delightful fact of life (shades of my own mom!).  But summer is coming as is Camp Ling 2009…and that requires me to be up and active.  So ignoring it won’t make it go away.

Mental note to mommy - contact orthopedics today.

In other splendiforous news, my washing machine was fixed yet again and (get this!) this time, the 3rd time is the charm!!  Yay!!!!!!  You can read about my Agonizing Death of me Washing Machine over at me forums; short story is, the heroic Sears Customer Care heard about my tale of woe from various tweets of mine last month….and after a pump replacement, it appears all problems are gone.  Here’s hoping it stays that way!

Workwise, things are peachy indeed - some new forum topics include:

and other goodies too.

Family-wise, no problems there!

Oh yes, there WAS what happened a few days ago - Honorable Boy II was showing quite a lack of discipline with regards to karate, so I busted him back down to a senior purple belt (ie, one level lower than the rest of the family).

Shocked some of the parents, let me tell you…but HB2 simply was showing a half-buttocked attempt at class and wasn’t worthy of the belt color he had earned.  So….after giving him a warning, I took away his belt.

Never challenge Mom, you see….Mom always follows up.

Anywhos, an hour of crying and cuddling and explaining consequences ensued, and I’m happy to report the past three days have shown a marked level of improvement.  If he stays the course, I’ll return his proper belt to him next Friday.  It was a tough lesson, but all the other Ling kids united in showing HB2 they believed in him as well.

All in all, it was a gamble…but it certain does seem to be working out.

This week should be restful, she said, laughing hysterically.  :)  Oh yes, and I created some new lenses - lookie at:

Cute Adorable Parakeet Tricks

I’ll probably make a Twitter Budgie lens off that too.  :)

And that was me week,

Tuesday Smooshed Ankles

Morning all,

My Tuesday, I will admit, could have been better.  My left ankle is acting up bigtime, which makes exertion pretty darned not fun.  :(  I made sure to take it easy in karate sparring, but did hear from the sensei,

Ah, that’s why your horseback stance was so lousy!

Tact.  Gotta love it.  :)

Anywhos, let’s see, where else to begin?  I’m in major Teach Myself Squidoo mode, and have created some rather goofy lenses:

So we’ll see how they work out.

Forum-wise, postings are cooking with gas -

Family-wise, life is peachy!  Camp Ling starts in 3 weeks, yay!  And methinks I finally managed to emphasize to my kids the dangers of Facebook (otherwise known as StalkerBook) and how easy it is for anyone to masquerade as a kid and fake their way into someone’s network.

Here’s hoping!

Today will be spent calling my doctor for an appointment and trying to rest a weee bit.  Lord knows I need it.

And that was me Tuesday,

Barbara Ling
