Stop the world, I want to sleep off

Welcome! If you're new to my site, click HERE to let me show you where the best benefits for yourself are located. Thanks for visiting!

Well, actually, that’s not REALLY the case…it’s just that my get up and go…got up and went and was last seen snoozing by an all-night Starbucks shop.  :)

The good news is my family is entirely healthy, yay!  The bad news is yep, I’m relapsing a tad.  But hey, so long as everyone else is okay, I’ll recover in my own time (ideally by the 4th, as the Ling Clan is dying to see the fireworks extravaganza.  Wheeee.  Not).

What else?  Well, all 4 kids are building their own sites, yay!  Honorable Boy 1 and Honorable Boy 2 are using Wix.com - it’s a drag-and-drop flash thingee that makes site creation very easy.  And the girls have their own blogs that are coming along most peachy indeed. Read more »

Really sick husband, Camp Ling, getting sick again, etc.

Eeek!Morning all,

Well!  Now that I’ve fully recovered, my husband came down with the same illness but far worse than anyone else in the family.  :(  To hell with adult karate yesterday; I shunned that and spent the evening taking care of him.  This morning, he’s a bit better and it does look like the worst is over.  But we’ll see; I just made him an awesome Soup of Wonders that should assist in recovery (gourmet cooking is one of my hidden trademarks).

Life just ain’t okay if the husband is sick.  :(

‘course, with the running around I’ve been doing with Camp Ling and such, I’m now feeling twinges of the virus returning so I started a massive homeotherapy campaign (I really don’t have the time now to get sick AGAIN!).   Such is the life of your typical all-powerful Mother Unit.

Are YOU this insecure about Mooses?

Insecurity?Parenting…it’s a hero’s journey!

This morning saw me up nice and early at 3am…it was the perfect time for me to write up some nifty affiliate marketing goodies like:

Around 5:30am or so, sanity kicked in and I figured that Jeepers self, sleep would be a good thing indeed!  The husband was already up and about, and I tried to fall asleep once again.

Perfect Together - Make Money, Lose Weight, Get Silly!

RAinbows Follow Me!Morning all,

Ah, what a day yesterday!  I spent 4+ hours or so crafting my April Fools Day post over at:

Rainbows follow ME in search of GOLD - Make Money and Lose Weight

Talk about constant brain power - not only did I have to expand past the boundaries of hysterical silliness online, but I also had to craft up the backend for the joke as well - that meant setting up an autoresponder, building up the One Time Offer, photoshopping all the pictures and more.  Let me tell you, by the time I was finished, I had zero creativity left….no desire whatsoever to return to Business As Usual (so I gave myself permission to rest and relax).

However, I’m quite pleased with the results….as I’ll be using the whole experience as a Case Study for products down the road.

Remember…EVERYTHING you do online should be geared towards being profitable in the future.

But I digress.  :)

I didn’t get a chance to post here yesterday either!  Wah!  So I wasn’t able to regale you with tales from Adult Sparring, in which I was utterly decimated by a Beast.  We’re talking an incredible fighter; great guy, love hanging out with him, utterly ferocious.  He was so tough I actually called time out which then really pissed me off!

You see, in a real fight, you CANNOT just call ‘time out’.

In hindsight, I cannot believe I did that. Honestly.  I lost my temper (the sensei running the bout wisely stopped it just then) and just took some time recovering…wow.  Afterwards, I did thank The Beast for the match; I plan on taking him on again (and asking for less intensity) so I can build up to 1/384th of his level.

In other character-building news, I’m finding out a lot more about my own inner spirit/personality/inner strength than I knew I had.

There are folks whom I love, folks whom I tolerate, folks whom I’d happily watch roast on a BBQ, folks who…you get the idea, right?  Anywhos, I was raised by my folks to be completely honest…and later on in life, I learned how to take complete and total ownership of my feelings.  That way, I can never said, so-and-so made me feel like xyz….instead, I proactively chose to allow my reactions to gyrate in that general direction.

This is one reason why my family dynamics for the most part are really quite spiffy - I’ve passed on to my kids the fact that they and they alone are responsible for their actions.

And my husband and I…we always make certain to begin our discussions with, here’s how I feel, and not, YOU MAKE ME XYZ etc.

It’s really a helpful way to live life.  But more on that at a later date.

Oh, and remember how this weekend my family earned their brown belts in karate?  My kids are most pleased indeed as am I - for a 40-something woman to start Martial Arts and not give up when physical problems challenge her is rather note-worthy as well (she said, patting herself on the back  :)  ).  The best things is my kids see that Mom walks the walk she talks…and throws herself in 110% to boot.

Life…it’s worth living.  :)

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

Giving yourself permission to crash and burn

I be sick!Morning all,

Today…I have officially embraced the prone position.

Okay, well, not really….but apparently the sickness my children had last week decided I was worthy enough to invade my body last night.  And when I say "invade", I’m not talking about the delightful Schoolhouse Rock version of Mr. White Blood cell defending his home turn; instead, I’m more along the lines of "Homocidal Maniac Aliens Denied Coffee - The Untold Horror!

Are you as wise as the following?

CalmnessMorning,

Tell me this isn’t great!

  • If you can start the day without caffeine,
  • If you can get going without pep pills,
  • If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
  • If you can resist complaining and  boring people with your troubles,
  • If you can eat the same food every  day and be grateful for it,
  • If you can understand when your loved  ones are too busy to give you any time,
  • If you can take criticism and  blame without resentment,
  • If you can resist treating a rich friend  better than a poor friend,
  • If you can conquer tension  without medical help,
  • If you can relax without liquor,
  • If you can sleep without the aid of drugs…

Then….you’re probably the Family Dog!

Think about it.  Read more »

Why you should value women and MILFs over 40

Women over 40!Hi all,

This just came across my radar, courtesy of another fantastic 40-something mom.

And I quote:

In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:

60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, ‘What are you thinking?’  She doesn’t care what you think.

If a woman over 40 doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it.  She does Read more »

Dealing with Grown Up Adult Bullies

No Bullies!Morning all,

Yesterday I had quite the fascinating chat with Honorable Daughter II.  Seems that she has the unmitigated joy (on par with that derived from tongue-cleaning a Superbowl toilet bowl) of dealing with a kid in her school who takes the art of annoying behaviors to a level at which Robin Leech would swoon!

Thus, before packing in the kids and the mooses for Advanced karate, I sat down with her and had a serious talk.  She kept focusing upon how "he made her feel"….

...that is, until I pointed out that by choosing that reaction, she was choosing to GIVE him power over her hours AFTER the school day had ended.

You see, while all of my kids are magnificent beyond belief, this particular child of mine Read more »

An Unfettered EAGLE amongst turkeys - embracing your learning style

Eagles and turkeys!Morning all!

So nice to see you at my blog today!  I woke up after enjoying a restful sleep, turned over, and heard my vertebrae go "You’re joking, right?

Not the most promising of physical moods, let me tell you!

Given that today is my beloved adult sparring class, methinks I’ll be most gentle on myself today.  If my back is still bothersome by this evening, I’ll focus simply on kata - those are always enjoyable to perform.

But I digress.  :)

Yesterday one of my kids came home with tears in her eyes about her poor grade in her spelling definitions test.  Now, in my family, there are a few rules when it comes to academics Read more »
