Morning all,
Well! Now that I’ve fully recovered, my husband came down with the same illness but far worse than anyone else in the family. :( To hell with adult karate yesterday; I shunned that and spent the evening taking care of him. This morning, he’s a bit better and it does look like the worst is over. But we’ll see; I just made him an awesome Soup of Wonders that should assist in recovery (gourmet cooking is one of my hidden trademarks).
Life just ain’t okay if the husband is sick. 
‘course, with the running around I’ve been doing with Camp Ling and such, I’m now feeling twinges of the virus returning so I started a massive homeotherapy campaign (I really don’t have the time now to get sick AGAIN!). Such is the life of your typical all-powerful Mother Unit.

Dr. Michael Cunningham, Orthopedics in Holmdel, Monmouth County (and why I’m blogging about him)
Today has been most fascinating indeed!

Got that? Alrighty then, onto why I’m blogging about him!
You see, 2 years ago or so, I saw him in reference to my MHE problem (a doorknob on my femur - you can see that lovely picture over at my Fab Fit mom site). He ended up referring me to a bone tumor doctor (Dr. Wittig, another excellent surgeon), who removed that bone beastie in November of 2007. I’m happy to report that surgery has healed beautifully!
Well, another MHE problem has cropped up - my left ankle is majorily squooshed to the side due to an exostoses that prevented normal bone development between my tibula and my fibular.
I remembered visiting Dr. Cunningham ‘way back when….so I just returned from his office today.
He gave me several potential future scenarios - get my orthotics recasted (that’s a definite), and possibly get my ankle restructured (but there’s no guarantee of success there, it’s major surgery that would require pediatric bone specialists).
Thus….I just returned back from Nouveau Prosthetics (I used to see Bobby from Manfredi Orthotics but they no longer take my insurance, wah). They’re going to call me back later on to tell me if I’m fully covered or not.
And we shall see what we shall see. As my mom adds….when we see it.
If you’re looking for a great Orthopedic surgeon, definitely contact Dr. Cunningham. He’s recently moved from Ani Orthopedics to his new location over on N. Beers Street. The office is warm and friendly and I can give my whole experience a "2 thumbs up!"; he is local to Monmouth county towns such as Holmdel, Hazlet, Middletown, Red Bank, Keansburg, Aberdeen, Keyport and more.

Yesterday was the adult black belt testings and promotions at the dojo, and I took bleeploads of photos. It was very enjoyable for me in a personal sense - many of the senseis testing there have taught me now for the past 2 years, and seeing them advance made me very proud of them indeed.
Which of course brings me to the next point…
I think I’m losing my nerve a bit with martial arts.
It’s my leg problem, of course, that’s causing that. I’m seeing the doctor today at 10am and once I know my future, I can better prepare for accepting my limitations/pushing past my fears. But I’ll tell you…that’s difficult indeed. I found a set of xrays from 5 years ago and truly, it’s astonishing I’ve been walking for as long as I have!
So we’ll see.

Moose wrangler extraordinaire!
Hey there! So nice to see you back….hope your Tuesday has been treating you well!
Over here in Ling Land, I’m really feeling….not exactly my numeric age, but possibly my wisdom age. It’s most baffling indeed.
I finally got my doctor’s appointment set up for my ankles next week, yay! I’m really resisting seeing the doctor, mind you, as I’m pretty well certain that it’s the beginning of the end of my ability to walk vaguely normally. Then again, the last time I saw a doctor regarding that….it was many years ago, so perhaps technology has changed! We’ll see.
Workwise, I completed my first RocketMom assignment, my very own About Me Lens over at
Barbara Ling - Maverick Mom, Dynamic Trainer, Moose Wrangler, More!
It went rather well! I also built:
Teaching Academics Skills with the Nintendo DS

and am feeling pretty buff about myself, creation-wise. Heck, I’m even teaching Honorable Boy 1 to build his own lenses in preparation for Camp Ling!
Life is good.
In other news, my washing machine yet againt tried commiting suicide, and this time….Sears Cares offered to replace the entire beastie itself. More yays! The new washing machine should arrive next Tuesday.
Karate-wise…my kids and I are now second-level brown belts.
There’s one more brown belt promotion to go and then the next belt is….black belt! Yay! That won’t happen for quite awhile, mind you, but it’s been quite an exciting journey indeed.
And that’s me latest! Tonight is adult karate….but I’ll probably sit out again until I see the doctor. It’s nice to realize that I’m actually demonstrating wisdom.
