Morning!
All together now, repeat after me:
"Parenting…it’s a hero’s journey!"
No no, better yet - etch the above into your forehead with indelible ink (or tattooes, whichever flaps your earlobes) and listen closely to the latest, ahem, unique adventure in the Ling family.
I have a plethora of truly wonderful kids. All of them are steeped in goodness, kindness and empathy…some more so than others.

Acting The Angry Man (Tips for defusing, anger management, more)
Morning,
I’m on one of the best mailing lists around for self defense, sharing life’s experiences and the like. That, and Nicky510, are a great way to start every morning!
Yesterday, the following came across my radar, and it hits home so perfectly… I was compelled to ask the author for permission to repost.
This article deals about the essence of anger. I hope it touches you as it did me…and that you share it with folks who need to read the words as well.
And here we go: Read more »

Emasculating the jerks who bother you
Morning all,
You know, at the venerable young age of 44, I am constantly reminded of just how terrific it is being in my 40s. Not only do I currently enjoy superb health (at 125 pounds this morning (which is 52 pounds less than my weight in December of 2006), my stamina, while still slightly less than my senior black belts at the dojo (okay, "slightly" meaning "10 to the 39th power") is superior to when I was in my 20s), but I also have at my beck and call 4 decades of life experiences.
Honestly, that is something that simply cannot be replaced.
When I was in my 20s, my folks and colleagues who were in their 40s would share with me their wisdom for dealing with jerks and other low-lying scum that inhabited my workplace. Back then, hah, I figured, sure, what they say might have worked back in the Dark Ages, but I certainly know much better how to tackle Read more »

SURVIVING when your back is against the wall
Morning!
And how are you today, this fine exciting Sunday?
Me, well, life as always is quite optimal. Kids are up, husband is up, planning out what joyful adventures (read: finish homework, make Mentos gysers, etc.) and oh yes! Blogging!
Today I’d like to chat about how to survive when your back is up against the wall….literally.
You see, it all happened Friday night. Friday was my Read more »

RIP Master Keet
Good morning,
Today is a sad day in the Ling family. Our treasured parakeet, Master Keet, died.
Now, it’s commonly thought that parakeets are ’starter birdies’ or otherwise easily swapped about. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Budgies have adorable personalities that really bloom if you allow them free access outside the cage and into your heart.
Master Keet was one of Read more »

Storming the gates of HELL , otherwise known as teaching kids boundaries
Morning!
And how are you today? Over here in LingLand, I suffered beyond mere mortal comprehension yesterday. Yes indeed, I had to (gasp!) SACRIFICE!!!!!
It was agonizing, it was painful, it was soul-searing and consumed my very being…..but for my family, I’d storm the gates of Hell (as would any other husband or wife).
Well, okay, perhaps….I might have over-exaggerated my undying hair-raising ethics-fusing mind-numbing rather mundane choice of yesterday’s action. You see, yesterday was supposed to be Read more »

Bullies should be drawn and quartered
Morning,
Did you read about the shooting yesterday in Tennessee? According to the news:
…Slain Tennessee student was target of taunts
Police identified the victim as Ryan McDonald, a sophomore who lived with his grandmother and had alopecia, a condition that left him bald since he was 3 and the target of endless teasing as a child.
"He tried to have a tough exterior, like a shield, to fit in," his uncle Roger McDonald said. "He was a good kid … who was dealt some bad cards in life."…MORE….
Yet I’ll guarantee - some namby-pamby pathetic excuse of a scum-sucking law defender will get the shooter off with a minimal amount of time served. After all, Read more »

How dare you NOT feel sorry for me!!
Morning!
I will admit, nothing is better in this world than a freshly-brewed cup of piping hot coffee, swimming with English Toffee zero calorie sweetener and creamer.
Well, okay, perhaps SOME things are better, like great romance, children who shun angsting, being able to catch the 5th degree black-belt with a surprise kick that flattens him unexpectedly, customers who not only buy a clue but even offer to help you out (that rocks!)….but the point remains.
