Ever want to set up blog tutorials on your site?

That's what I'm planning on doing!

And it occurred to me that having a specific format in place *before* I do this….

Would be a Very Good Thing Indeed!

So!  Here's what I've laid out below.

Looks nice to me, what do you think?

I think that by using such a structure, I'm ensuring my readers can learn really quick-like and effectively.

Good morning!

Well, actually, it's after 2pm!  Been zooming along a million miles per hour – just released

Miracle Magic Money Multiplier

and now want to hunker down and start building my craved forum!

But I realized…I first have to get Day 2 of making money online out!

And it's this.

To successfully make money online, you really should master… Time Management.

And here's why.

You see, when you give yourself permission to explore making money online, you might find yourself, dare I say it….overwhelmed.

Big time!

You might first hear about affiliate marketing.  But when you pounce on that, you learn about cloaking your affiliate links!  And then you come across a story about how one person made a bazillion dollars with cloaked links and now markets how-tos for CPA offers…and faster than you can say, OMG It's Coffee In The Morning!, you switch your focus to learning *that*.

Not good!

Instead, a far wiser course of action is to divide the day up into manageable sections.

Just like school!

And here's how.

Step 1.)  Determine when you are the most productive.

First, you want to put in the most effort regarding learning…during the time where you're the most alert.

For example, I work best at 4am.  The kids are asleep, the mooses are asleep, the husband is asleep…and I can simply work work work!

After 4 or 5pm, mind you, I slow down.  Learning at that time would be sheer idiocy for me because my body clock would slap me upside the head and say, Yo!  Idjut!  Go to sleep!

So….determine the most productive time for you.

Next, around that time…

Step 2.)  Craft an hourly schedule that *works* for you.

Make no mistake about it, sitting in the chair for hours on end is rather detrimental to your health.

Really!

So at least once every hour, make sure you get up and *move*.

• You can use the Yahoo Widget Grandfather clock to help remind you when it's time to do something new!
  

You see, one of the biggest challenges you're going to find when learning about making money online is this.

You'll find yourself pulled in all directions…and fall prey to the "OOOO Its SHINY!" syndrome.

And that will eat up every last little bit of hours you might have.

You want to prevent that.

Ideally at all costs.

Have you ever noticed that more than one place will sell the exact same thingee?

For example, I'll bet I can grab some rather sweet mobile phones from Amazon….and Commission Junction…and Overstock….and LinkShare….and….

You get the idea, right?

For example, mosey on over to Shopping.com (otherwise known as Now Owned by eBay.com) and search for

See how results can come from eBay or Amazon or Buy.com or others?

Wouldn't it be really nifty neat to do that on your own site?

I sure think so, so I dug online to see what I could find.  And here it is!

This nifty plugin lets you embed a price comparison chart that includes affiliate products from:

• Amazon
• Overstock
• Commission Junction
• LinkShare
• AvantLink
• Affiliate Window

It also provides search engine friendly results as well!

This nifty plugin lets you add Commission Junction items directly to your WordPress site via one simple plugin.

Think about it – let's say that you're focused on a specific niche, one where your visitors have a set buying preference.  

You could add the above to your store or shopping site to allow your visitors the value-added benefit of saving money when they choose to buy.

And saving money…that's simply just a Very Good Thing indeed.

Morning!

Ever run into a character-building challenge with your friends…and all of a sudden, they disappear off of Gtalk so you cannot communicate with them?

Ever wonder if, by chance, they've simply blocked you on Gtalk instead?

Well then, wonder no more!  Here's how to find out.

Step 1.)  Download Pidgin Universal Instant Messenger.

It's an open source universal Instant Messenger.  You can download it by clicking on the logo above.

Step 2.)  Add your Gtalk information.

When you first start Pidgin, you'll be prompted to add an account.  And you're not only limited to Gtalk, mind you – lookie below at 'em all!  You're going to want to select "Google Talk".

Step 3.)  Look at your contact list popup.

You should seem something like:

Step 4.)  Right-click over someone you know has NOT blocked you.

At the very least, you'll see their name and possibly their contact info like so:

Next,

Step 5.)  Right-click over the person you think might be blocking you.

If the person is blocking you, you will NOT see a name, nor an avatar…you'll only see the status like so.

If you do not see a name or a picture, chances are…you've been blocked.

Now, what's really funny for me is that the person who is blocking me…I had created a special gtalk account for said person just so I'd be available whenever I was needed.

Obviously, as I'm now blocked…I'm not needed. 

Ah well, these things happen.  Live and learn.

Anywhos, should you be wondering just what's going on with your contacts online, the above should give you more of a sense of, is the person REALLY off-line, or just doesn't want to talk with you.

You can never control how others act….but you can always choose to control how you react.

Well then, if so…..

Are you immediately alerted whenever your site is hacked?

It was a dark and dreary day two days ago.  After I had imbibed my beginners 43 cups of coffee, I opened my email to see the following.

Can YOU say "eeek?"

As you might imagine, the links above….kinda sorta are rogue and not supposed to be there.

In other words, the site in question got hacked.

Luckily, I was able to notify my customer asap, and get it fixed.

The site I use to monitor such things is free! and called:

WatchThatPage

At that site, you can enter in a list of pages you'd like to monitor, and voila, whenever a change occurs (read: spam injection!), you're notified of it.

Very useful indeed, eh?

There are other applications you can use, of course – things like:

• Firefox Add On Update Scanner
• Fox Notifier
• Site Delta
• Check 4 Change
• Change Detection

Whichever one works for you, great!  But just make certain you use *something*….your clients, customers and yourself will be Extremely Happy Peoples for it.

Morning!

In my last post, How To Bravely Close The Door On What You Love and Move On – Barbara Is Back!, I wrote about where I've been during the past 3 months or so…and how I'm choosing to move on in my life.

What I neglected to mention was that recently, I was commissioned with building a fitness site!

To add new products, all you have to do is create a new post that specifies the category (the site automatically builds a cascading menu for it), the price, the picture and whatever else info you want.

I was able to add products in rapid-fire succession. 

No hassling about source code editing; it used the straight WordPress Post interface.

Howdy!

I have one simple question for you.

Let's say that you have a local business, oh, say, hmmm…..recruiting.  Headhunting!  In other words, you match quality local job seekers with local positions.

With me so far?

Obviously, if your service is in another industry, replace that mental image with yours. 

Anywhos!  Let's say now that your local recruiting businesses specializes in the IT sector.  Things like web development, ajax, enterprise, networking, joomla….thingees of that nature.

Again, with me so far?

Alrighty!  NOW….let's take a look at some of what you're selling (in this case, it would be your job offers).

• You might have a local job that's targeted to a unix systems administrator.
• You might have another local job (in a different town) that's focused instead of on customer call centers.
• You could have the third job that is desperately searching for a quality project manager to oversee vast Windows development.

Let's now assume the locality in question is Queensboro, Florida.

Take a look at those 3 thingees you're selling:

• Unix sysadmin job in Queensboro, FL
• Customer call center manager in Queensboro, FL
• Project manager in Windows Environment in Queensboro, FL

Now…let me ask you.

Do you think there will be people who search for

• unix jobs queensboro FL
• call center jobs queensboro florida
• windows project management jobs (florida | FL)

That's called a Long Tail Keyword search (meaning…while it might not show up very often at all, chances are…if someones searching for something that specific, they're more than just a tire-kicker).

Wouldn't it be peachy indeed if your company's local business site showed up in the top 10 for these searches?

And this isn't applicable JUST for recruiting businesses – let's take, oh, hmmm….real estate too!

Some people might search for

• apartments in queensboro FL
• cheap ranch house Florida
• mother daughter house Queensboro FL
• 2 story entrance huse for sale queensboro FL

and if you were a Realtor instead…wouldn't it be just dandy if your local business site rose up to the top 10?

It's easy to do!!

All you have to do is take what you're offering (job listings, house listings, etc) and build a page that focuses SPECIFICALLY on that topic.

Think about the benefits that will offer both you and visitors from Google to your site. 

Here's two of them:

Service-related keywords are automatically included.

Job posts will always include the skills required, the acronyms involved, the certifications appreciated, etc.etc.etc.  All of those are important keywords!  And because those pages would appear on your local business site, your local keywords (state, town, etc.) would be included as well.

And house descriptions – the same thing!  And just about anything else you can sell locally..the same idea holds.

You'll be giving visitors EXACTLY what they're looking for.   This makes Google happy.

The fact is that specific service-related pages on your site give your visitors just what they're looking for.  After all, what ELSE would have 'project management jobs in Queensboro, FL' except for…well, project management job-related pages?

The same things holds for other optimized pages as well.

If that's not worthy of a peach-filled orchard, I don't know what is! 

Thus….take a long hard look at what local services/products you offer…and then see how you can craft long-tail search keywords to target those phrases. 

I'll bet you dollars to donuts it will help you increase your bottom line…quite dramatically indeed!

It's Valentine's Day!

And for every other marketer online out there, that means…it's time to

SELL SELL SELL ANYTHING VALENTINE'S DAY SPECIFIC!

But not me. 

Nope, diehard romantic and rainbow unicorn loving woman that I am, I instead want to give you the best Valentine's Gift idea you can imagine.

But before I do that, let me set the mood, might I?

First….watch this.

So now that the mood is set, let me completely….uttterly…..

Demolish it.

Actually….."demolish" is the wrong word.

Let me instead….

Open your eyes to *another* idea about Valentine's day.

Ready?

Alrighty!  And here it goes.

Sure, it's great when the heavens align, and you're on the same page with the person you love, and life is all sparkly angelic teddy bears that flutter their silvery wings in the grassy meadows of undying love.

What if….

The one you love doesn't know how to express their love?

Or perhaps…

What if….

You love someone deeply as a friend and want to communicate how truly treasured they are?

Or even….

What if…

You're gosh darned sick and tired of the typical artificial romance that Valentines Day exudes…and want to do something completely unexpected yet utterly heartfelt and guaranteed to make a wonderful impression?

In other words…

What if you want to make it clearer than a brilliantly cut diamond that your loved one, soul-mate, soul-friend, etc., is cherished…always and forever?

So glad you asked!

Follow these steps…and let me know how they work out.

Step 1).  Determine what will be the final Valentine's Day surprise.

Yes, this is a multi-step process. 

Step 2).  Send a text to your loved one that says:

Quick!  Look up!

That's all.

Step 3).  5 minutes later, send other text to your loved one that says:

Didja see it?  Didja?  Didja?

And yes, that's all too.

Step 4).  Two hours later, send this text:

Quick!  Look to your left!

Yep. 

That's it. 

Step 5).

  An hour and a half later, send this text:

Incoming!  Look to your right!!

Admit it, you're getting intrigued. 

And yes, that's all as well.

Step 6-N).  Rinse and repeat the above steps as much as you'd like.

Obviously, the purpose here is you're intriguing the person you love and care about.

oOo….mystery you're creating!

Step N+1).  Finally reveal to your loved one….just what all those text messages *really* meant.

You know what they were referring to?

They were referring to….

UIFHs!

In other words,

Unidentified Invisible Flying Hugs!

In even more other words….

Even though you were separated from the person you love, you wanted them to know that you were mentally sending big huge bunches of good thoughts and hugs.

And the best part of the above idea is…..

It can be sent to soul friends as well as real-life lovers.

You can add your own embellishments, of course…your last text message could be:

• Meet me at XYZ and I'll reveal the mystery!
  
• Can't wait to see you so you can open my gift for you that holds the answer to the mystery
  

Or even:

• Hey, check out my blog – you'll find the answer to your questions right now!
  

In other words, you can craft a blog post that expresses your love and heart-felt emotions for the person who was the lucky recipient of your texts.

If that isn't warm and fuzzy, I don't know what is! 

It's free, it's heart-felt, it lets your Valentine know you're constantly thinking of him or her….

It's just plain *great*.

In closing, Valentine's Day is not:

Just for spouses…

Just for boyfriends and girlfriends…

Just for family...

It's also for the people who touch your heart and make you thankful to the Universe that they are in your life.

And if that's not splendiforous, I honestly don't know what is.

Let me start off this post by talking about….

Muffins.

No, not your typical muffin top (ie, you've squeezed your huge tummy into pants that would fit a Bratz doll instead of the mature full-figured individual that you might be).

But…muffins.

Big huge luscious muffins.

Imagine if you will….the following (insert dreamy music here)….

You're presented with biggest yummiest muffin one can imagine (covered with maple frosting and sitting on top of, oh, lessee…..cookie dough ice cream).

Not only one of them…you're gifted with dozens!  Hundreds even.

And you happily graze your way thru these delectable works of art.

But then….after awhile, you notice something.

Something *horrible!*

You notice…..

When you lift your muffin to your mouth, your arm is kinda sorta swamped with big huge amounts of fat.

And and and….your previously svelte biceps, those magnificent rounded muscles of wonderment, are no longer clearly visible.

You've lost your definition!

Instead of being toned and lean and one mean breathing machine, you're kinda sorta… well, not too pretty.

And the worst thing is is that your newfound icky condition *could* have been halted at a moment's notice…if you had taken the time to see how each little muffin chomp added to the overall hugeness you were developing.

Horrible indeed, eh?

Let's now relate this to your blogging efforts, shall we?

Stellar Fantastic Bloggers == Huge Naked Ripped Biceps!

In other words, bloggers who know what they want to achieve….they follow a precise rigorous course to attain their specific goals.

What course, I hear you ask?

Well, they:

1.)  Structure their posts intelligently

Excellent bloggers will work towards a common end goal.  Instead of rapid-firing shots all over the Internet, they'll take 3 or 5 or 10 days etc. to create tutorials or a thought-provoking series.

This takes advantage of Google rankings, SEO and a whole other slew of online goodness!

Next, they:

2.)  Sing their own songs

A-list bloggers start out unique.

A-list bloggers didn't copy others; instead they sang their own song and developed their own unique blogging personality and built up their own appreciative following.

This helped them distinguish themselves and blaze new paths that others craved to follow.

Next, really smart brilliant bloggers:

3.)  Network with their peers

While achieving fame and fortune *can* be done by one's lonesome, it always helps to have friends.

Alist bloggers asked these friends to promote them and in return…promoted others as well.

It might be done behind the scenes, it might be as simple as retweeting other Alist blogger posts….it might be promoting said posts on Facebook and other social networks.

Give some…and get a lot.  It's a smart thing to do!

Smart bloggers also:

4.)  Cast convention out the window

You'll never see a quality blogger shun posting ideas because "it's never been done before."

Indeed, masterful bloggers look for the unique, the never-done-before, the "I'm going to really cause a massively humongous uproar in my community!" topics because again…

It's one of the ways Alist Bloggers stand out from the thundering herd.

And finally, tremendous bloggers:

5.)  Never rest on their laurels

They always keep their hands in.

Sure, they might decrease the frequency of their posts.

Or they might add a different business model to their basket.

But they never think their learning is done!

They know that the more knowledge…the better.

They realize that they might not be able to utilize a new technique *today*, but that doesn't mean it won't be helpful in the future!

oOo…what I said.

So…just like achieving glorious biceps (and yes, the below is me, I'm the one to the right, and yes, I wear sleeveless gi tops *because* of my sexy biceps) …

…requires time and patience….

Powerful blogging….requires the same.
