Today’s Make Money Tip – Recover Your WordPress Admin Password

NOTE! This is a post of mine from 18 months ago on another site…and while doing some more thrilling site maintenance, I came across it once again. Remember, you can’t make money with your blog if you can’t access the admin features, so it’s still just as relevant today. Enjoy!

It was a dark and stormy night, and I remember:

My mom is always fond of telling me, if anything is going to happen to anyone, it generally happens to my daughter.

My oh my, was she ever right.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been in a frenzy of work, creating new wordpress blogs, tying up loose ends, and generally wreaking havoc and mayhem in my vaguely non-existent sanity.

Now, this by itself isn’t really news (the cutting edge of parallel processing has been my home ever since I was a sysadmin at AT&T), but it DOES lend itself to rather unique, ahem, opportunities for undying nail-biting shirt-ripping foot mooshing fist punching bouts of lovely delightful stress.

Take, for example, the past 10 minutes. Earlier this week, I had set up posting Owlbert updates from Owlbert.com to Virtual-coach.com . And I moved Barbaraling.com to new servers, adding a wordpress blog there as well (wow, talk about a blast from the past…..)! Plus, I’ve been tweaking the blogs/databases at various other sites as well.

Now, I have specific passwords I use for specific sites. I had thought I changed BarbaraLing.com from the default password and when I decided to login, typed what I believed was correct.

HA HA, chortled my beloved domain name! The password no workie! It was then I realized I had failed to update it…but even more un-intelligently, had ticked off ‘Remember my (INCORRECT) password‘ in my browser window to boot!

DOES THE EXCITEMENT NEVER END??????

End result? A wordpress blog with no way to access it. Oh, sure, I tried sending the password to myself, and even now, I’m certain that after it finishes site-seeing on the Internet, I’ll eventually receive the information.

Sigh. Only me. Well, probably not ONLY me, but hey – it’s character building!

Anywhos, I searched about online for ways to recover the password and discovered:

Today’s Make Money Online Tip

Why hello there! QUICK! TELL ME NOW!

Do YOU admit to your network when you goofed?

Hmmmmm?

One of the most powerful things you can do to increase your profitability online is to be open about your successes AND your failures.

After all, your failures make you more human….and (get this!) if you choose to view ‘failures’ as ‘opportunities for improvement’, you reinforce the belief by your network that nothing gets you down!

I just realized this morning I made one big huge major goof with my sales copy! No, not only my sales copy….but my overall approach as well. WAH!

I’m in the process of rectifying this, and will give you a complete step-by-step accounting of what I did wrong and how I fixed it. Can’t do that, however, until I actually DO fix it…hence the delay.

Anywhos, nobody but nobody (except my mom, of course) is infallible. We ALL make mistakes…and the people who listen to our words benefit greatly by seeing we goof too!

Remember…success…it’s an attititude!

That doesn’t mean, success…it’s perfection.

No sirree…not by a long shot!

Thus, do NOT beat yourself up whenever you discover you’ve made mistakes in your business online – glory instead in the realization you now have not only an opportunity to improve…but also to teach those people who value your words as well.

And that, my friend, is a priceless gift indeed.

Howdy!

Today is my next-to-last installment on my admittedly coffee-deprived take on making money with your blog! And for your reading pleasure, have you considered:

Forget about putting Adsense on your blog….

Instead of putting Adsense on your blog, put your blog on Adsense!

That way whenever anyone visits http://adsense.google.com , they’d first have to Visit Google’s Sponsor and say Hello! to your blog.

I guess you’d talk to Corporate to secure that, no?. Perhaps it could end up looking like:

And of course, clicking on anywhere except the taskbar would take visitors to your blog FIRST. After all, you’re the sponsor. It’s just good manners, you see.

Tell me that’s not an inspired idea!

Morning! Today is Day 3 of my admittedly tongue-in-cheek tutorial on (drumroll please!)

How to make money with your blog!

And for today’s suggestion, I’d like to direct you to:

Option 4!) Add scantily clad he-wenches (and wenches, too, I suppose) to your blog!

NOTE!! Back in Band Camp (this was long ago when Bob Backland RULED professional wrestling, mind you), the term "wench" and "he-wench" was used quite regularly to refer to men/women alike. It’s NOT used here in a derogatory sense!!

But I digress.

I still can’t get over the brou-haha that Copyblogger’s How to Be Interesting generated, including such gems like:

Half-naked women? Sure, it works. But do you endorse things just because they work? If so, I can list a whole bunch of slimy things you might consider for your list.

Personally, I think he got it all wrong – pictures of coffee cups with premium blends are far more attractive to the majority of Twitter users.

But let’s take a deeper look at this, shall we? Moseying on over to ShoeMoney’s blog, I see starting at me a wondrous display of Advanced Calculus magnificence that causes me to immediately shriek, where’s my credit card!

Oops, wrong Shoe.

On the site, you’ll see:

Coincidence? I think not! ‘course, if scantily-clad he-wenches and wenches alike don’t float one’s boat, adorning them with big huge boffo checks really adds the immediate appeal.

Let’s move now over to John Chow’s blog. There you’ll see:

The plot thickens! Here, you’ll see the creative use of Full Automobile Envy Wear! One thing about both John and Shoe…they wouldn’t put up images on their blogs if THEY DIDN’T WORK!!

Right? ‘Course right!

Which brings me to my next iron-clad proof that adding scantily-clad he-wenches or wenches work wonders for your blog. Move over now to BloggerNoob and, well, check out the, ahem, assets of every picture shown.

But let me tell you – his site ranks super high in SERPs for making money with one’s blog…in spades!

The plain fact is, humans beans being what they are, provocative pictures of ~~freshly brewed coffee~~ enviable people and their enviable objects do engage the emotions like nothing else (which is why you see my Insane Luxuries Indulgences over the right – confess! You’ve always wanted to buy loose gemstones or a Ferrari Coupe! Confess!)

What do you think? Have you ever wandered over to, say, a blog on how to build legos only to find they’re being constructed by half-clad he-wenches or wenches? Does this kind of advertising work for you?

Personally speaking, I can always appreciate the tasteful scenario of, oh, say, a Chippendales Macgyver fest! But unique-clad women just leave me cold. Go figure.
