I'll tell you what - I'm nowhere near as old as you and I'm already noticing the effects of age on how easily I get around. I used to be made of rubber when I was a kid but even as I'm nearing 30 my days of running around tirelessly are quickly ending.

Hi Barbara,I just had my twelfth surgical procedure to my right ankle on May 1, 2009, since first injuring it in 1972. Age hasn't been good to the degeneration of my ankle and the bone fragments around the talus. This last incision fused my ankle to my leg bone, hence the flexible mobility is gone and the addiction to oxycodin for pain relief has been has stopped. I no longer need pain meds every time I need to leave the house. My advice to you is think clearly what you want, get at least three medical opinions, and not just surgeons. The old adage is, if you give a child a hammer, he hits things. If you only see surgeons, they only prescribe surgery. Try homeopathic and even acupuncturist (the one's trained in China-type). If you want to chat, feel free to call me at ----. All the best on whatever path you choose.BTW, I discovered a better way to lose weight that keeps it off for the remainder of your lifetime, regardless if you have an insatiable appetite like me and still consume over 7,000 calories a day, with almost no exercise. My proof is that I weighed 445 lbs on May 2, 2006 at my surgery, and today I weigh 205, with a BP of 110/65, and a resting pulse of 62. My dinner tonight was weird - half a seedless watermelon, 16oz of chili with beans (ground beef and turkey), 4 freezee pops, and a box of Honey Nut Oats!!!

Thank you for your ideas! I'm currently exploring many options (and I also know aspects of healing myself; I'm applying them too). Will check out your friend, thanks!

Barbara,
I am sorry to hear about your ankle problems. I press my thumbs and cross my fingers for you. Your blog, your lenses and your forum conveys such vitality that somehow I believe that you will find a solution, surgerywise or not.
And I sorry about wordpress eating up your post - which reminds me that I'd never thought about that. I have been writing all my posts online, simply believing that it is safe. Well.

Really sorry to hear about your ankle- what about reiki etc, I have a friend who lives near you who does distance healing and is going to give my listeners when I air her interview, a discount? She is excellent

That is such a bummer when wordpress eats your post, and when it happens I go and compose offline, then get lulled into a false sense of security until the next time.
