Today’s Work at Home Tip
QUICK!
ARE YOU SITTING IN A CHAIR????
Whew, I’m so glad I caught you! Okay, true, chances are…where ELSE would you be sitting (unless of course you were working out on a Workstation Treadmill like this)?
Well, if you’re anything like me, chances are…..you’re going to be sitting for long long hours indeed!
And while I’m all for cost-conscious (read: cheap!) office expenditures…your office chair is something on which you do NOT want to skimp!
You see, if you sit in a lousy chair, not only will that hurt your posture, but it could also cause achy/stiff muscles just exactly at the time you need to pound out 38 more eBooks for your latest project.
And that’s not good at all! Trust me…I know.
There are several choices you have for great ergonomic office chairs that I’ll share with you below.
Chair #1, top of the heap, king of the castle, mega-expensive but oh so worth it – Ekornes Stressless Recliner

Yep, this is what I use meself! I’ve had a stressless recliner now for over a decade and it’s simply perfect (my husband bought me the second one for my office). What I like about it is I can sit up straight if necessary…and also recline while working as well. The lumbar support is not to be believed!
It costs anywhere from $995 to a lot MORE than $995 and you can only buy them thru a dealer. Or, of course, on eBay like so:
Next, you can consider:
Ergonomic Office Chairs
Erogonomic office chairs generally have great lumbar support and other nifty benefits that help you sit for weeks on end.
Tips for getting the RIGHT ergonomic chair for you include:
- Seat pad – does it "feel right" to you and conform to your, ahem, seat? Remember, you’re not flat there – neither should your chair be.
- Chair height adustability – Can you raise/lower the support? What feels spiffy to you might be agonizing should you all of a sudden grow 6 inches during the night.
- Back rest/lumbar support – CRITICAL! A supported back is a happy back which is a back that will NOT cause you undying pain after you finally stand up.
- Reclining ability - can you lean back? Are you frozen in one spot?
- Armrests – Are there any? If so, do they position your elbows comfortably, or do you feel you have to drop your elbows to find the support?
And ways to choose them include:

And yes, of course, you can find great deals too like:
Of course, you can always go the:
High-tech bouncy ball route
<ahem>"Sitting on an exercise ball while at home or work promotes flexibility, coordination, motor skills, core strengthening, and balance. Your body, when positioned on top of an exercise ball, is constantly making small adjustments, often imperceptible, to remain balanced and thus is constantly exercising a large group of muscles in doing so.
By strengthening your body’s core muscle group you help improve your posture, have better balance and guard against back injuries. It may take time before your body becomes accustom to sitting on an exercise ball, since your core muscles may not have gotten much exercise previously! MORE…."
Dare I explore:
Amazing what modern technology can do for us today!
So remember….when YOU want to make money at home….be sure you give yourself the benefit of a comfortable pffice chair FIRST. Your body will thank you for it.
Enjoy,

You are so right about having a comfortable chair.I am not so sure about the bouncy ball chair. I don’t think I would be able to remain seated for long. I’d be spending more time trying to stay on the chair.

I agree. It certainly would stablize SOME muscles (most likely my rear as I kept falling off!
)
Since I switched over to a more comfortable ergonomic chair about a year ago, I feel like I can spend all day at my desk. I think I get a lot more done since the switch. Add in an ergonomic keyboard and mouse and I don’t think twice about working all day.

I would agree! The keyboard works wonders as well.
