The evilness of children and why your family comes first

NarutoMorning all,

Well!  Chalk one up to being vaguely alive once again - the virus that smooshed me on Thursday came ’round again today, ensuring my family and I missed our karate belt promotions.  Wah!

The good news is, I woke up again 10 minutes ago and am feeling a wee bit more tending-towards-the-bipedal mode right now.  Yay!  Which of course, means I want to write about something most amusing that happened yesterday.

There I was, innocent Mom, working on my various/sundry unique writings, when Honorable Daughter I came to me and said,

Mom, you have GOT to see this.

Mom (ie, yours truly) was in the middle of solving the world’s Twitter problems, inquired what the excitement was all about.

Mom!  It’s the Naruto Abriged Series!  YOU’LL LOVE IT!

Now, for those lucky readers who actually possess a life mor exciting than a can of paint drying and aren’t familiar with Naruto, it’s a Japanese anime that has has swept our nation’s youth for many years now.  I educated myself quite a lot about it last year when I centered Camp Ling about this idea (if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, and my kids wrote lots of fanfiction, built their own Naruto villages and the like)….and my main reaction was, OMIGOSH THANK GOD THAT’S OVER!!

Alas, my daughter was of another mind entirely.  She, evil person that she is, knew my one weakness when I’m working:

She started tickling my neck.

Now, I confess - the ferocious all powerful Mrs. Ling starts becomes a kitty cat whenever my friends tickle my neck; common sense (like hey!  Earn a living, idjut!) deserts me and I willingly will watch anything placed before me.  It doesn’t affect my husband but me, wow….I become a happy zombie and zone into the Happy Place.  :)

And this is what she showed me.

A happenin’ mom, I’m ALSO quite familiar with Yugio and Pokemon and let me tell you, that video was hysterically funny.  So much so, I’m up to episode 13.

So much for work.  :)

Which brings me to the following point!

Whenever your kids clamor to spend time with you….do so!

The time will come soon enough when they’ll prefer your closeness to achieve a distance of 837 miles (gotta love teen angst)….but the memories you’ll have of sharing jubilant laughter with your children will last years and years ahead.

So sure, my kids were a wee bit evil to drag me away from work….but wow, I’m sure glad they did.  :)

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

Hi Barbara - I hadn’t heard of Naruto before.  I’m wondering if we don’t have it in the UK.  I know what you meant about spending as much time with your kids as possible though.  Mine are getting a bit older now.  I worked a lot when they were younger and I really wish I could turn back the clock sometimes and spend more time with them.

Spending time with the kids is a great thing indeed. I’m fast realizing time is just flying by…..

      Enjoy, Barbara
