T-4 Days and Counting: Google Reader Termination, Paid Traffic Implications, and more

It’s T-4 Days until Google Reader is toast!

Have you prepared yet for what this means for you?

I did some researching online, and came up with some rather interesting ideas!

The thing that nobody seems to be mentioning however:

Google Reader is a source of free traffic to business sites.

That source of free traffic disappears come July 1st, 2013.

What happens then?

What happens to the millions of sites online that have been depending upon Google reader for advertising revenue (ie, the more people who visit a business site, the more chances there are of advertisements being clicked on and more)?

Why isn’t anyone except myself….currently talking about this aspect of Google Reader?

With Google Reader being shut down, websites online need to find an alternative source of traffic.

Google Adwords perhaps?

Or maybe Google Plus?

What do you think?

I personally think this is simply a strategic move by Google to drive more companies to their monetized products such as Adwords or their social network (Google Plus).  The more profit flowing into Google, the more satisfied their share holders will be.

It’s just plain good business sense on their part.
