And so for today, I figured I’d blog about a topic near and dear to your heart.

It is, of course:

No no, not that, I meant:

Or maybe it was?

No no, sorry ’bout that too!

I really (really truly and honestly) want to talk about

Google Reputation Manglement Management!

Oh my, what I said!

In short, things NOT like:

My gosh, remember that?

Wow.

Now, true, chances are, you probably will *not* have to deal with idjut employees trashing your company online!

  • But what abou…..unhappy customers?
  • Or Bitter rivals?
  • Even Luke vs Laura (points to whomever gets that reference)?

Hmmmmm?

Well!

Did you know that you can use Google to help alert you to potential reputation management crisis *before* they totally immolate your business?

And here’s how.  They all involve Google Alerts.

NOTE!Step 1.)  Set up an alert for your name

Google Alerts is a nifty useful service in which Google will send you (get this) an “alert” if your search term pops up online.

So!  Visit www.google.com/alerts and type in your name, in quotes.

ie,

  • “Barbara Ling”
  • “Bill Vick”
  • “Angus Macgyver”
  • “King Henry II”

Enter in your email address, select “as-it-happens” for “How often”, and voila.

Every time your name shows up online, be it a blog post, an interview with Time Magazine, those named drunken party pix from your frat days….

You’ll be notified about it.

But don’t stop there!

NOTE!Step 2.)  Set up an alert for your website

Instead of using your name, this time, create an alert for your website URL!

ie,

And whenever your domain name shows up in posts and the like…you’ll be notified about that too.

But don’t forget:

NOTE!Step 3.)  Set up an alert for your products

Do you have a specific product name like Income Fitness?

Expert Groundwork?

Rich Hermit?

etc.etc.etc.

If so, set up alerts for those too!

Ain’t this easy?

——————————-

Indeed it is!  Heck, you can even use Google Alerts for business research too, like:

And of course, reputation management:

Nice, eh?
