i still think that it’s hard to compete in serps with businesses that are present in google local. anway, they’ll take up half of the above the fold portion of the page.. so the best option is to make sure that you added your site to local search and maybe then start optimizing for long tale..

Good stuff Barbara. I concentrate on local business marketing and I know that local business owners have way too much on their plate to deal with keywords in most cases. It is a key to successful local marketing – but they need a knowledgeable person to show the way.
