Morning!

I am still utterly exhausted - must have had perhaps only 3 hours of sleep last night. At 2am, my son awakened me with the exciting news that a bloody nose had sprung up while he was sleeping; took awhile to stop that and get him back to bed.

But prior to that….I had come home from my massive martial arts day. First off, I had BJJ in the morning; as always, excellent class and slowly but surely, I’m buying a clue. My challenges are remembering to counter and not just try to immobilize. But like everything, I’m certain it shall come with time.

And the evening! Adult sparring and I kept my promise to myself - I took the hit from the fighter and …. okay, I was knocked to the ground BUT! I got up immediately and went right back in. Wow, it was truly a superb experience for me!! No more fear whatsoever, even if I’m completely overwhelmed. Just get out of the way and counter (funny thing, I have zero problem being aggressive in sparring compared to BJJ). Fought 4 other folks as well and I’m actually seeing fighter patterns! Wooweee! AND! Went against someone who showed me how one can really effectively use the hook punch to the head (my head, to be precise). Nice nice nice.

Unfortunately, I never sleep well after being pummeled like this…so it was 11:30pm before I fell asleep. After fixing my son, I was up for another hour and then figured, okay, might as well start the day.

What has this taught me? Bunches of things!! You never know what you’re capable of until you put yourself smack dab in the middle and intone to yourself, bring it on. Sure, you might get pounded into a fine crisp…but hey! you’re learning for the future. I’ll tie this together with work/blogging/etc. on my AskOwlbert site today.

Today when the kids are at school, I will be taking most excellent care of…myself. My gosh, I deserve it. :)

Time to make the donuts,

Barbara
