Admit it – the above is one of the most smashing marketing titles you have ever read!
But for me, it's really appropriate. Let me tell you why.
No, let me first show you!
Ain't that all purty-like?
- Ain't it kinda sorta….yellow?
And red?
- And kinda sorta…in your face?
Much like:
Intrigued yet?
'course you are! So let me explain.
It was a dark and stormy knight (oh heck, just click on this link) – it was part of my RocketMom Squidoo challenge of writing a fabulous faerie tale!)….
Ahem.
As I was saying.
It was…well….this past Sunday.
I had bravely agreed to take my children and 3 of their friends to the simply stunning Korean Kpop Festival at:
RELIVE IT: KBS New York Korea Festival brings K-Pop to New Jersey!
The thrilling adventure saw me leave the house at 8am on Sunday morning and return home at 1am Monday morning as well!
And peoples think I have no life. HAH!
But let's now move to the crushing of the Analysis/Paralysis, shall we?
See, I'm not really into Korean Kpop. 'Matter of fact, most of my time was spent either re-reading:
(David Gemmell is an incredibly gifted writer; I really did need to reread some of the deep insightful comments the hero of the book discussed. My favorite centered upon being able to look at yourself in the mirror and be proud of who you see).
Plus…I also sketched out my ideas for my future work which I wrote about over at The Long-Forgotten Secrets Henry Ford Can Teach You About Internet Marketing.
And the 10+ hours I spent waiting for the concert to start caused me to make the following connections between Korean Kpop and crushing the ickness of product creation analysis/paralysis.
And it's this.
1.) You just freakin' DO IT.
SHINee didn't get all famous-like by sitting in their living room and just *talking* about:
"Gee, wouldn't it be awesome if we were house-hold names?"
They *did* things like:
(Yes, I'm sticking with Lucifer clips – I've heard that played approximately 3,492 times in my house during the past month or so. One of my kids even knows the dance down pat!)
Anywhos, like I said….SHINee didn't *dream* about being famous.
They made it happen.
Much like you have to do with your product.
2.) You make it gloriously replete with shining color.
Kindly take note of:
You'll notice the…ahem….colors.
They're bright.
Vibrant!
Attention-getting!
Much like your product packaging really should be!
When you sit down and start actually designing your cover art, you'll find your analysis/paralysis seeps away because your creativity is being called upon in dramatic fashion.
After all, it's one thing to spend days and weeks creating the most awesome infoproduct known to moose…but it sure is ego-draining to realize nobody notices it.
eCover design really helps smooshilate analysis/paralysis big time! (and if you're looking for great eCover scripts, check out eCover Black Pack – it's what I used meself to create that adorable report cover up top).
3.) You build up viral marketing techniques.
Did you know how that wondrous October Kpop festival was marketed?
The tickets…they were actually free.
But!
They were given out at venues like H Mart in Edison, NYC and the like.
To wit:
Details on Free KBS Concert Ticket Distribution!
'Matter of fact, tickets were also available at
- -Koryo Books Store- 35 West 32nd Street, New York, NY 10001
- -New York Cultural Center- 460 Park Ave #601, New York, NY 10022 (October 4th 11:00 A.M.)
- -HanYang – Long Island- 478 Plainview Rd. Hicksville, NY 11801
- -HanYang – Flushing- 150-51 Northern Blvd. Flushing, NY 11354

- -H Mart – Northern- 141-40 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY 11354

- -H Mart – Edison-1761 Route 27, Edison, NJ 08817
- -H Mart – Cherry Hill-1720 Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003
And my gosh, were those tickets popular.
My kids got on line at 8am, tickets were given out at 2pm, and I heard that within 15 minutes, they were all gone.
Now *that's* viral marketing.
Tapping into the power of affiliate marketing can help do the same thing for your product.
Thus, remember.
When you're in massive product creation mode, there are steps you can take to make it….shine.
Or dare I say…
SHINee?
