Before You Begin
One of the most popular ways to make money online is via a membership site.
Why?
Simply because you're guaranteed passive income for as long as the person stays subscribed!
Which brings us, however, to the following challenge.
How can you offer dynamically fantastic content, automatically…hands off…that makes people *want* to subscribe?
Darned if I know! 'Matter of fact, that's what I'm currently teaching meself.
But I digress. 🙂
I do know, however, that membership sites are all the rage….so decided that a tutorial for membershipizing would be most spiffy indeed!
So let's begin.
Step 1 – Determine Your Membership Niche
In what area do you want to create a membership?
Me, I plan on having a huuuuuge all purpose Internet marketing membership site (more on that later!) but what if….
- What if you had a membership site in the diet niche?
- In the NASCAR niche?
- In the recipe niche?
- In the breast enhancement niche?
- In the dentist niche?
Once you have your niche, ask yourself:
Who are your customers?
- Are you offering B to C? ie, you're a dentist and you're offering a membership site for family health/cosmetic dentristry?
Or
- Are you offering B to B – you're in the diet niche and you're offering content for other diet marketers to make money in the diet niche?
Hmmm?
Your end customers will determine the kind of content you create.
Speaking of which:
Step 2 – Determine Your Membership Content
Well?
What content will you offer?
- Will it be premium content you yourself plan on creating?
or…
- Will it instead be PLR content that you automatically drip-feed into your blog?
The first option will require you to create the content yourself…the second, will allow you to schedule in already-created PLR goodness.
You can get great PLR stuff over at Resellers Rights Weekly – it's what I use meself.
Once you have figured out your content, you can smoothly move to:
Step 3 – Determine Your Membership Fees
Well?
What will it be?
For example, I'm a member of The Syndicate. and just joined Earn 1K A Day. The first costs $97/month (unless you use the coupon barbling, which makes it $47/month), the second $39/month.
Lots of interaction, lots of value!
That's what it's all about, actually….value.
Can you provide content your members will *value*?
And if so, can you faithfully update said content month after month?
I've heard of mini-membership sites for $4.97/month, all the way up to huge prices indeed!
For my mini-membership site, I'm going to shoot for $17/month. We'll see how that flies….
In Closing
The challenge with membership hands-off membership sites is that you want to be able to scale them up once you get the creation under your belt.
Plus, you need to ensure your reputation is such that people will ideally follow you where you lead.
It truly will be a grand journey!
This concludes Day 1 of my Profitable Membership tutorial program. Turn in tomorrow when I talk about how to get monthly payments into your Paypal account!
