Money Secret

Morning!

Ever want to get the jump on your competitors?

Well, if so….one of the best ways to do this is to master the secret Google search operators that let you zero in on the critical online information you NEED to be the FIRST with an answer or idea.  Remember, in this fast-paced world, perceptions matter more so than ever, so you always want to come across as THE authority who can find any answer your customers/clients desire.

You’re probably aware you can search on Google like so:

high seo

Well, what if you could find all the PDF files that deal with high seo?

You can!  Simply use the

filetype:

tag, and set that to

pdf

ie,

high seo filetype:pdf

Check out what’s returned (at the time of this writing, I even see confidential SEO reports that weren’t properly protected.  My.)

Isn’t that the epitomy of superDeDuper?

You can search for all sorts of filetypes, including:

  • doc
  • ppt
  • rtf
  • txt
  • xls

ie,

The applications to the above type of search are immense!  You can search for .doc files when looking for employees for your business, for .ppt files when you’re looking to see how others have created powerpoint presentations in your niche and much much more

Here the current 13 filetypes that Google currently supports:

  • Adobe Portable Document Format (pdf)
  • Adobe PostScript (ps)
  • Lotus 1-2-3 (wk1, wk2, wk3, wk4, wk5, wki, wks, wku)
  • Lotus WordPro (lwp)
  • MacWrite (mw)
  • Microsoft Excel (xls)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint (ppt)
  • Microsoft Word (doc)
  • Microsoft Works (wks, wps, wdb)
  • Microsoft Write (wri)
  • Rich Text Format (rtf)
  • Shockwave Flash (swf)
  • Text (ans, txt)

Have a ball with ‘em!  And let me know what you discover.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling
