Good morning! So nice to see you here this fine sun-shiny day…hope life is treating you brilliantly indeed!

I have a simple question for you.  And I'd appreciate it if you'd take a moment and sit down prior to answering it, okay?

Don't worry, I'll wait.  :)

Sitting?

Wonderful!

The question is this.

Do you currently have a tremendous challenge facing you right now?

Yes?  Well then, tell me more…

  • Is it finding and keeping a new, better job?
  • Is it finishing your infoproduct and getting it ready to launch?
  • Is it testing for your first degree black belt?
  • Is it losing weight?
  • Is it dealing with your idjut child who is pushing boundaries like nobody's business?

Hmmmm?

Whatever it is, I'll bet it's character-building to the extreme, right?

I mean, the issue is probably always at the fringes of your mind, ready to pounce upon and grab you by the throat and scream deep into your soul:

"HA HA HA HA HA HA!  You CANNOT get away from ME!"

Sucks, doesn't it?

Yep, what I said.

We all have our soul-searing issues that really make life less delightful than a moose-plop-laden parkland.

But solving it…doesn't *have* to freeze our souls into sheer despair.

Which brings me to the one surefire way to ensure your life has no regrets!

And it's this.

Ready?

Always take ownership of *reality* and give yourself permission to make things *happen*.

Wasn't that superbly simple?

But it's true!

See, it's easy enough to bemoan and whine when things don't go your way.

After all, how often have you thought:

  • "It would be so much easier if my child would just listen to me!"

Sure it would, but that's not reality.  So you have to deal with it.

  • "It would be so much easier to lose weight without dieting!"

Sure it would, but physics doesn't work that way.  So you have to deal with it.

  • "It would be so much easier if I knew how to touch type to get my product written!"

Sure it would, but right now, you *don't*.  So you either hunt-and-peck or take the days it requires to teach yourself touch-typing.

  • "It would be so much easier to find a smart, sexy guy if I didn't hang out at bars so often!"

Sure it would, but well, duh.  Hang out where the smart sexy guys *are*.

  • "It would be so much easier if I found a job!"

Sure it would, for you and about a bazillion others.  The career field is teeming with people who *know* how to package and sell themselves, you have to deal with that and learn the techniques yourself.

Now, yes… you can choose NOT to fix the issues that are beating you over the head.

That's called (and stay with me here, this is important):

Denying reality.

Plain and simple….

You are a bonafide *fool* if you think that by ignoring reality and focusing on quick fixes instead…that you'll achieve your goals.

Life…it just doesn't work that way.

The one surefire way to ensure your life has no regrets…take ownership of *all* of your actions…your past actions, your current actions, your future actions.

Be honest with yourself about the problems you are facing, and then give yourself permission to do the things required to make things better.

You might be surprised at how quickly things can begin to turn around.

Grow strong,

Hmmm, This post really gets me thinking. I think that we all face a lot of challenges in our lives. I have a unique perspective because my real world career presents me with impossible challenges on a daily basis, and over the years, I’ve learned a very positive attitude towards impossible problems.

Partly, one has to learn to set aside the things that are beyond your control and then deal with the problems that you can solve. Then as you chip away, you find that the more daunting problems become more solvable.

The second part of dealing with an impossible challenge is to never give up. But don’t keep banging your head against a brick wall. Learn to approach the problem from a different angle. So, set aside the method that hasn’t been working for you and try a different approach.

Love your insights, Richard, and they’re so true. I always like saying, don’t keep beating your head against a brick wall because it feels so good when you stop! :)

Different approaches can truly rock.

Finding and keeping a better job is ideal for anyone. I have to agree that it is important to face reality. Be honest with yourself about the problems is also a good advice.

Oh my, your article does raise some difficult questions in my mind. I truly agree with you on this one:

“Be honest with yourself about the problems you are facing, and then give yourself permission to do the things required to make things better.”

Sometimes I just love to pretend that the problems will go away on its own, when the truth is that the problems will always linger until I have done something to make them go away.
