Do this BEFORE you proactively contact local businesses hungry for your services

Ever have an insane desire to get known by your local businesses to the point they proactively contact YOU for what you have to offer?
‘course you have!
It’s truly a spiffy thing indeed when local businesses are trampling each other in their eagerness to engage your services.
But….before you contact them, you need to ensure you maximize the probability of them saying YES to you.
Here are some ideas.
Determine HOW you plan on contacting them.
Will you be using email?
Will you be cold-calling them instead?
Will you simply walk into their store with your snazzy business card in hand?
WELL?
If you’re going to use email, make certain you ALREADY have in a place a superior website that will showcase your skills to your best advantage. That means at the very least…you need to answer:
- What makes YOU stand out?
- What are the benefits to engaging YOUR services compared to your competitors?
- Who are your happy customers?
- What’s the best way to contact you?
Why? Because you’ll be including those killer pages in your email of course, to back up your claims.
But…
Never try to ‘close the sale’ in your first-contact email; always try to get the followup/appointment.
If you’re going to proactively call them, you need to ensure your cold-calling skills are above par! If you’re in the recruiting field, you want to master telephone sourcing; if you’re simply calling as a service provider, check out these resources for great ideas.
If you’re going to walk into the store with a business card, ensure your card does its level best to sell your greatness! Resources for that include:

You see, so many business people fail in this horrible economy because they neglect to get their sales weapons (testimonials, phone voice skills, business cards, etc.) up to par and indeed, superior to their colleagues.
You only have ONE chance to make a first impresson – you simply HAVE to go the extra mile.
Prepare well…and your income’s fitness will thank you for it.
Enjoy,
