2 Breathtakingly Easy Ways To Demonstrate Social Media Expertise in Facebook

Social Media

Are you on Facebook?

Okay okay, a silly question I know.  Here’s a question much more important!

Are you a fan of Facebook niche fan pages where you can network and build your brand’s expertise?

Yes?  Peachy!  Okay, there’s the next question!

Have you ever checked out the URL of those fan pages?  Did you know that there are more than 25 fans, the owner of said fan page can create their own vanity URL?

Over the past weekend, I moseyed on by several niche fan pages – siberian huskies, high end audio, comedy DJing and guess what I saw?

Most of them still had the /pages/ thingee in their URL.

Now, sure, this isn’t a big thing in and of itself…unless the owner of that fan page wants to increase search engine visibility, gain more fans, etc.etc.etc.  And I’ll virtually guarantee that those owners simply aren’t aware of the vanity URL opportunity.

So why not stand out in their mind by dropping them a note and directing them to

www.facebook.com/username/

You’ll make an impression that not only you’re a fan (and people love returning favors), but you’re ALSO mighty handy wrt things like Facebook and social networking in general.

The second easy way to demonstrate social media mastery is to tell those Facebook fan page owners all about how they can use Twitter to set up niche pinging to their wall.  It’s very easy, you know – all you need is an automated account like Social Oomph, 5-6 niche-blog feeds, and voila; every day your Fan Book page will be updated with niche expert tips and posts.

I do that myself now for several clients.

2 Breathtakingly Easy Ways To Demonstrate Social Media Expertise Recap

  • Tell fan page owners they can have their own vanity URL
  • Show fan page owners how they can automatically keep their fan page updated with niche posts

Remember, perceptions are far more valuable than reality these days.  Sad but true.  So when you want to catapult yourself into expert status asap, doing the little things that others think require great knowledge is a great way to spark the fire.
