I cried!
As a chap who was a common figure in the &#039;Good &#039;Ol Days&#039; newsgroups (and the BBS system before that!) Do I remember the &quot;flame wars&quot;!
It was an era of flame retardant underwear if you asked as simple a question as how to insert a CTRL character in the VI editor :-)
But you are right - it never goes away. If Irecall, there have been two incidents mentioned in the press recently where punishments criminal convictions were increased due to a perceived lack of remorse expressed in those individuals online reputation manglement.
I pray that you have coined that term for wider use - and not copyrighted it :-)
