Time Sensitive – Make Money with Indiana Jones

May 13th, 2008 | By Barbara | Category: Make Money, Niche Marketing, Profit Tools Reviews, eBay Affiliate Program

Indiana JonesMorning!

Unless you’ve been hibernating in your refrigerator for the past few months or so, you’re probably aware that the most amazingly magnificent utterly splendiforous truly epic much anticipated move, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, will be released next week.

Interest in Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford and the like is at an all-time high!!  So tell me now

Are you taking advantage of this on your blog?

And if not, I really would like to inquire…..WHY?????????

Seriously!  Savvy entrepreneurs and bloggers can ALWAYS tie ANYTHING to ANYTHING within their blog.  Let’s say that you blog about collecting antique tractors or failing calculus or the Sims II or …. you get the idea.  What’s common to each and every one of them?

Simple!  They’re all powered by people like you and me.

People who (ideally!) have a life AWAY from the computer.

People who (get this!) get up in the morning, get dressed, go to work, go to school, relax outside, go to the movies….

WAIT A SEC!!  Didja see that last comment?

NOTE!Go to the movies….

Chances are, even if your readers aren’t the movie-goers type, they’ll remember Harrison Ford from other promotions or from the original 3 series… or (and this is key) know people who are bananas about the actor.  So you could offer something like:

"Anticipating?"

Let’s be more niche – are most of your readers men?  Consider:

Are most of your readers moms with kids who love the movie?

So do you know from where I’m finding all of the above goodies?

NOTE!eBay of course!

It’s beyond adoringly simple to incorporate targeted nice eBay products to your website…and enjoy the commissions generated from them (especially if you write a focused post on the products slanted towards your niche!).  Here’s how.

NOTE!Step 1.)  Sign up for a free eBay and Amazon account.

Easy easy EASY to do!  Click HERE for eBay and HERE for Amazon.

Told you it was simple.  :)   Once approved:

NOTE!Step 2.)  Log in, click on "Tools" and then "Widgets"

We’re going to use the Editor kit for this exercise.

The Editor kit is ‘way cool because you can configure the display of your items very easily.

Click on "Editor Kit."

NOTE!Step 3.)  Set up your variables.

If I’m going to include eBay within my posts, I’ll generally use the custom display like you see above.  I encourage you to click around and see what’s available.

Also make certain to:

  • Add a title
  • Add a search bar
  • Limit the number displayed (I generally settle on 5 to 10 items myself)
  • Choose ‘display only items with Gallery pictures" (looks nicer)
  • Add the content selection (in this case, perhaps…"Indiana Jones")
  • Add your Campaign ID (I always find mine on the Link Generator page)

Once you’re done and click "Continue", you’ll be brought to a page that has the code you’ll need to enter.  Copy and paste this to a notepad or text file.

Finally:

NOTE!Step 4.)  Write your blog post!

Once you have your code in hand, so to say, write the targeted theme blog post.  Some ideas might be:

Parent Bloggers:

  • Taking the kids to see Indiana Jones?
  • Using Indiana Jones in school lessons (don’t laugh, there’s Harry Potter school lessons aplenty)
  • Classes you’ll need to take to become Indiana Jones
  • Teaching your kids archeology
  • Collecting cards – are your kids ready for Indiana Jones?
  • Indiana Jones and the Legos Adventure

Man Bloggers:

Woman Bloggers:

 Hobby/Niche Bloggers:

  • Indiana Jones crafts (Courtesy of Geek Mom Mashsup)
  • How Movie Writing Has Changed Over 20 Years (the first three Indiana Jones movies were from the 80s)
  • Fashion – Then and Now
  • Indiana Jones and the (fill in the niche) effect

When your post is completed, switch to "Source" or "HTML" view and paste in the affiliate code eBay had previously generated for you.  I’m fond of tacking it on after a PS, ie:

P.S. – Speaking about Indiana Jones, check out:

and you’re done.

See how it works?

You’ll notice I walk the walk I talk – lookie to my right sidebar for things listed under "Are You Anticipating?"  :)

Remember…time sensitive trends are just that – Time Sensitive!  Take advantage NOW of building interest…and see your earned affiliate commissions increase as the days go by.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Great ideas, I’ve always thought Adsense was the best way to put ads on your site.
