Today’s Make Money Tip

Do YOU have a domain?

If so, tell me now (without looking!)…

When will it expire?

Hmmmmm?

The LAST thing you want is for your domain to expire and for you to miss renewing it!

This happened to me twice over the past decade, alas.  I lost my flagship recruiting domain:

(so I changed the name to RiseTrends.com)

and also my realestate site

And it can happen to your personal domains too!  A good friend of mine lost his domain 3 years ago or so and it was snapped up by a domain broker.  But almost a year ago…it came back!  I wrote about that over at

Covert Angel time – Rescuing your friends’ personal domain name site!

So….drop what you’re doing right this very instant and go check when your domain name expires.  Trust me, you’ll be most thrilled indeed that you’re staying on top of that critical issue.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

    Hi Barbara

I’m a member of the “lost domain” club too :-|

But I can tell you that NameCheap.com is a better choice than GoDaddy.com when this happens.

At least NameCheap has a link to “reactivate” an expired domain for a period of time, whereas GoDaddy holds it hostage!

A quick tip for your readers if this happens to anyone else.

Hey Dave, great to see you here! I never had the problem myself with Godaddy – they were able to retrieve domains for me in the past. But who knows, that might have changed.

Now all I have to deal with is the fact…my blog has been blacklisted by Akismet. Trying to fix that now. Wheee! :)
