Tweeting Amazon Affiliate Links on Twitter Made Tremendously Simple

Amazon affiliates

Morning!

HOLD THE PRESSES!  You can now (get this!) tweet AMAZON AFFILIATE links on TWITTER!

Or, in a vaguely more calm state:

Yesterday Amazon released it’s nifty neato new power tool for affiliates that CAN be most useful indeed…OR….it can cause massive amounts of Twitter peoples to frantically shake smelly garlic and crosses in your face until you go far far away.

I’m talking, of course, about the ability to tweet Amazon affiliate links.

It’s amazingly easy to do as well!

Here’s a quick video tutorial I just made about it:

Hate watching video?  Okay, let me describe it in detail below.

Let’s say that I’m an Amazon associate (you’re not yet?  Quick, sign up for free HERE!) and I found a copy of Gary Vaynerchuk’s book Crush It! that was soooo amazingly impressive to me, I decided I wanted to tell my followers about it (and grab any commissions that might come from any purchases as well).

(NOTE – that’s actually the case – When I bought the Wishlist plugin, I was sent a complimentary copy of the book, and while I utterly dislike the notion of video, I can truly see the benefits of his wisdom.   It’s a fantastic book and I highly recommend it).

Well, I can happily zoom my way to Amazon and bring it up like so.

And will you look at that!  Right at the top you’ll see this nifty new

link.

Click on it, and you’re brought to your Twitter login and will see:

Amazon Tweet

And voila, I can tweet that to my band of loyal followers.  If they buy, I get the credit!  Woo hoo!

Or….is it?

I can truly see the benefit of sharing your affiliate links via Twitter, IF and ONLY IF:

You do it with responsibility.

If every 3rd tweet of yours is an Amazon affiliate link, well then….you’re going to lose followers mighty fast!

BUT…if you occassionally add an affiliate tweet or two that would be of interest to your followers, I don’t see the problem with it at all.

Two other ways you could incorporate Amazon Affiliate links in your tweet include:

  • Hashtags – create a hashtag only for you that alerts followers to Amazon deals.  I’m thinking about using #btl-headsup or something.
  • Blog reviews – You could tweet something like "I just reviewed (amazon affiliate link) over at (link to blog post – what are your experiences?"

And if you’re looking for more viewpoints, check out:

In closing, yes, using Amazon to tweet your affiliate links truly IS amazingly simple and easy to do (oh, and remember – you have to first be logged into your Amazon Affiliate account to actually SEE the ‘Tweet This Link’ on Amazon.com pages).

Doing it wisely, however…that’s a ‘whole ‘nother ball of earlobes instead.

What do you think?

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling
