Twitter to the Rescue of Wicked Washing Machine Perils!

Washing MachineMy gosh, what a day.

I now know another superb benefit to Twitter!  But before I reveal that, let me regale you with the heart-pounding excitement that made up my past 24 hours.

First off, I’ve been up since 3am.  Yes, I know….silly me!  But hey, I do get some of my best work done in the wee hours of the morning, including the truly scintillating post:

3 Horrifying Ways You Can Completely TRASH Your Twitter Reputation

Yes indeed, I’m gosh darned sick and tired of Direct Messages (otherwise known as DMs) that promise me I’ll be a millionaire yesterday from abusing Twitter.  ARGH!

And me forums!  A really smart guy, Jeff, joined it yesterday, and gave great insights into:

Definitely read his ideas – they’re topnotch!

Ulla Henning also wrote about the Virtual Coach Income Fitness forums over at her blog in her post entitled:

Coffee is Calling!

I’m really thrilled she finds the forum so friendly!

Other forum goodies include:

But!  The most important aspect today both business and family wise is the saga of my Washing Machine From Heck Story that I recounted at
You see, yesterday my washing machine decided that my life was far too boring and committed hari-kari.  In other words, it stops spinning now at the rinse cycle, wah!

So!  I researched online how to fix it to no avail…and sadly gave up and scheduled a repair call on the Sears site.

This would have been more peachified than a Georgia Mega Farm IF…and only IF….the repair call happened!  However, I heard from Sears that it had to be rescheduled for tomorrow.  And angsting person that I am, I dutifully tweeted my woes.

Imagine my surprise when @SearsBlueCrewHA responded!

Which led to the Sears Customer Care at @searscares to contact me too!

Which led to a customer case being opened for me…and the promise of a refund of the Sears repair service call plus some or all of parts and labor!

 Talk about customer service!!

So we’ll see tomorrow.  It’s almost certain the drain pipe is blocked, according to my husband…hopefully that’s a 25 cent part.  :)

But can you believe how Twitter saved the day?

As you can imagine, I’m just plain zonked right now.  I’ll be taking the kids to karate soon and also indulging in Adult Karate sparring too…hopefully I’ll be alert enough to land in some useful blows.  :)

And that was me Tuesday,

Barbara Ling

Hey Barbara,

I see you share my “passion” for stupid auto DM’s. I don’t mind the simple thanks but lately every idiot tries to use it to push it some product on me.

To me its just rude and stupid.

…ok, done with rant. While I got a few hours of sleep I still fell short, so perhaps this coffee induced comment is not the most polite but it will do :-)

That’s great service!

I work for an appliance retailer here in the UK and we have staff on Twitter looking out for issues like this, as well as trying to be as generally helpful as we can to customers (and potential customers!). It’s great to see so many companies realising the power of social media.

Keep up the great work on the site Barbara.
