Where was I?
Ah yes, Monday!
Was up again until around 1am.
Just got up around 6am.
Going back to sleep again soon.
But did see the Planet of the Apes movie…. really good!
Didnt get my latest out. 🙁
But did write:
“Sometimes you gotta love the taunting memories FB chooses to share with you.
For example, this picture of me here … that’s me 6 years ago, at the AnimeNext convention. Back when I was in the peak of health. A year before my ankle fell off.
Superbly good times those were!
And I look today at everything (as in EVERYTHING) that I’ve gone thru since those burningly catastrophic years …
… and I have to strongly declare, I’m glad for every single experience I had.
True! I made some mind-blowingly horrendous decisions….
… I had my teeth figurative kicked in at the end of August 2011, and returned to marketing/IM on Sept 1st… and haven’t looked back.
But even more impactful for me during these past 6-odd years is how my family has evolved.
So many milestones my kids passed…
… from letting my eldest take her own extremly …. *unique* … view of education and kicking fate in the right direction for her…
… to my youngest growing from coping with bullying to showing a highly compassionate side and becoming the go-to friend within his personal network whenever anyone was experiencing traumatic thoughts and situations….
… to my soon-to-be-high-school-dropout kid who is starting early college at age 16….
… to my 2nd daughter fondly known as the Space Alien (to this day, she has yet to cause typical teenage angst, has handled any and all situations with a maturity college grads would admire, is the backup mom when I’m not around… in short, she’s just not human. Ergo, she’s a space alien)…..
And my husband and me – we’ve been though heck and back and this year… ’twill be 24 years of marriage!
Almost a quarter of a century.
Now, true. Back then, I made some gloriously the-opposite-of-smart decisions during this time….
… decisions that tore Godzilla-sized holes in my business life.
And yet, all those missteps have brought me to where I am today.
And THAT, I wouldn’t trade for the 5th Avenue Starbucks Franchise.
Even if while I was going thru them, it was soul searing agony that took years to recover from.
But recover I did !
So what’s your takeaway?
Every single misstep that you make…. leads you further to becoming the you’re ideally meant to be.
And yep, it sure as hell will be painful. Everyone’s Inner Hero Journey… always is.
Case in point. Last week, one of my former karate instructors returned to NJ. I have long since given up on Martial Arts but oh wow… seeing the pictures from the dojo and remember the good times I had (black belt 2010!)….
… viewing them all, it was something that brought a smile to my heart.
So… whenever life throws you a curveball…
.. and you feel like all hope is lost…
… or you wonder how you could have been such an idjutfied tweeblehead…
Remember.
Ideally, time heals all wounds. It will pass.
And you will continue on your own Inner Hero Journey to make your stamp upon this world.
