Dont forget yesterdays:
Where was I? Ah yes, Tuesday!
Remember I had mentioned something my youngest was working on?
Well, I can now go public with it! To wit:
“And now I can share it all.
Honorable Son II has gone thru some pretty challenging times during the past few years, mainly being bullied, being somewhat more immature than his peers, and the like.
It came to a head during his first year of junior high school. Lots of discussions he and I had about mental health, self confidence, not giving into suicidal thoughts, letting your inner hero shine.…
It’s been a long and at times character-building journey.
Well, 6 weeks ago he came to his dad and me and said,
“You know folks, if I had known about mindfulness and improving mental health before I started 7th grade, life in school might have been easier. I want to make sure nobody else goes through what I did.
I’m going to start a petition to change the school curriculum; even though I’m leaving this school, maybe I can make things better for incoming 7th graders.”
And that’s how it all started.
During the past 6 weeks, he’s been proactively contacting all his teachers, getting suggestions on how to improve his proposal (it morphed into a 3 page document), etc.etc.etc.
And today, he read out loud his presentation to several school board members. I was allowed to attend… he did *grand*.
So proud of him!
Instead of just complaining about the way things are…
… He chose to walk he talks and start the process of *changing* them.
So very cool indeed.”
Isn’t that grand?
