Maritime lawyer specializations

Maritime lawyers deal with issues of the seas (especially injuries). If you're a worker in the seas, you're covered by the Jones Act - every seaman's employer is required to provide the seaman with a safe place to work, and is required to act reasonably to maintain and keep the vessel in a reasonably safe condition.

Under the Jones Act, your employer is liable for the negligence of any of its officers, agents or employees. This means that, if you get injured as a result of a co-worker's negligence, you can recover against your employer.
