who will help ensure you don't make costly mistakes and waste your valuable
time and money.

can be your mentor, of course...but you should certainly choose wisely.
Always have at your fingertips the WIIFM answer - what's in it for me to
mentor you? Remember, people always look out for number one...being able
to quickly articulate to potential mentors your benefits can reap incredible
rewards.
Consider
approaching people from your local business community, visible professionals
from targeted niche sites (could you imagine the benefits you'd derive
from having, say, Tiger Woods give his input on your golfing product?),
columinsts in your business, PR firms who handle your area of speciality
and the like. Any person who can introduce you to profitable inroads is
a candidate!

What
can you offer your mentor? Know your value hands-down! For example, I've
provided my mentors with superb search engine visibility, always make sure
to include them in any relevant articles I write, and assisted them in
specific Internet marketing concepts they simply didn't know about. After
all, if you're on fire to make a success via Internet marketing, you probably
will know far more about the arts required than your potential mentor!
