=================================
Good afternoon,
Sometimes you can
uncover brilliant ideas in the most unlikely of spots.
My husband is a
technical supervisor at a rather large telecom corporation. He is constantly
bombarded by new recruiters soliciting for his business, and shares with
me the different techniques that are employed.
Sadly, almost all
recruiters use the same old tired pitch. "Give me a moment of your
time and I'll show you superb candidates!" "We have what you
need!" etc.etc.etc.
The thing is, hardly
any of the recruiters:
and more importantly
I asked him what
would spark a response on his part. Among the points he brought up, two
stood out:
1.) Know my needs,
and provide me with the benefits of using your services (ie, have you reduced
costs for other departments? Helped make deadlines?)
2.) Offer to
talk over lunch. (he works 8-10 hour days, but does always have to
eat every now and then).
Regarding voice
mail, a message that began "My name is SoAndSo, and I've successfully
helped other supervisors achieve their deadlines and wanted to provide
you with that opportunity" would be far more effective than "My
name is SoAndSo, I'm a recruiter with the candidates you need!"
The
main point when soliciting new business is to answer the WIIFM (what's
in it for me) question of your client, *before* you begin the pitch. Human
nature being what it is, talking about the recipients needs causes ears
to perk up. That's one first contact technique you should definitely take
advantage of (New
Client Profits will go into more detail as well - NOTE! it's the only ebook that still has prelaunch savings!).
ThankYouVeryMuch!
