TESTIMONIAL
by the South Carolina Association of Personnel Services
"THE
INTERNET IS A TOOL. THAT’S IT. By Stephanie Berry
What
a valuable tool indeed if one takes the time to learn all that IT has to
offer!
We
were educated AND entertained by the knowledgeable and witty, Barbara Ling,
“The Internet Virtual Coach ”. Her presentation was jammed packed with
information designed to help us better utilize the internet, efficiently
handle email and our files, negate SPAM, ensure search accuracy, recruit
“Passive” candidates, and improve our outcomes. During her presentation
I heard several sighs of relief and acknowledgements like “I Finally Understand!”
or “You’re kidding…” “That is it?” …And laughter. What more could you ask
for!
Barbara
encouraged us to “Build” a presence on the Internet, and reminded us that
this does not just happen overnight. In fact, she gave us several tips
to improve our credibility and ideas that would lead candidates to us.
She reinforced the use of “Netiquette” and reminded us to “Ask for help”.
She challenged us to determine what made us the best at what we do and
to incorporate those added values into our website design and marketing
strategy.
Did
you ever wonder what candidates say about you? Barbara took us to a site
and showed us what candidates are really saying about the “Barkers” who
call on them. She gave us the names of two websites that are designed to
combat SPAM. Oh and yes, she explained Flipping, X-Raying, and Peeling!
She walked us through the use of several search engines, free resume and
career portal sites, user groups, URL searches, and more, AND MORE!
Barbara’s
program just didn’t seem long enough considering the vast amount of information
there is to sift through regarding the Internet. Fortunately she offered
us a special discount on her training materials and hope. Yes HOPE. In
just the few short hours of her presentation we learned techniques that
could save us time, and more importantly, the agony of floundering. As
one attendee remarked, “I can do this!” Many of us will be reading and
implementing the techniques outlined in her book… even if it takes all
summer. Now we know why Barbara Ling as a loyal following. I’m a fan."

E-recruiting
Strategies
Your
company's e-recruiting success is dependant upon many variables such as
your recruiters':
- Individual
Internet skills (Knowledge of free targeted Internet recruiting resources)
- Adaption
to technology (Buying tools doesn't mean one uses them)
- Knowledge
of free effective sourcing and shortcuts (writing a job post that gets
results, finding free resumes, etc.)
and
your company's:
- Internet
presence (What job boards are you using? Are your candidates present
where you post your jobs?)
- Viral
marketing (Do candidates tell their colleagues about your job offers
as well?)
- E-Recruiting
budget (What's the most effective job board to use based upon your
company's industry and specific needs?)
One
size simply doesn't fit all. I can custom-tailor your strategic e-recruiting
process to get the optimal results for your specific company in your industry.
