The Imperative Reason For Redefining

Good morning!

So!  Have you been smooshed out of the marketplace
yet?

Well?

Unless you've been living in TellyTubby Land along
with my children, you probably are aware that the
economy is, well, not exactly as rich as Fort
Knox.  

One could even say, eeek, things are changing bigtime.
All of a sudden, things like cost!  Value!  Budgets!
Marketing!  are making quite an impression upon your
clients.

Sure, you might be the best *value*.  But, how do you
convince your clients of this, when other competitors
are frothing at the mouth to undercut your rates severely
if you're a 3rd party recruiter, or loudly proclaiming their
superiority if you're a corporate recruiter?

But it goes deeper than that.  Do your competitors have
more advertising money?  Do they have a bigger marketing
department than you?  Are their visibility resources such
that you simply have to redefine your own offerings?

These things happen.  They really do!  But the good news is
that a vibrant company can always redefine themselves, examine
the marketplace and see where they shine.

Have you noticed a decrease of client orders?  Candidate
interest?  Is your message being drowned out by an overabundance
of competitors who have more resources than you do?

If so, don't just sit on your toes!!  Re-evaluate your mission.
Your offerings.  WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE!!  What is it you
do that nobody else does as well?  Candidate/client handholding?
Competitive intelligence?  Specialization in middle-life career-
transferrals?  Diversity recruiting?

It's something on which to think.  Recently, many clients
have been coming to me and asking, it looks like the market
is changing.  But I'm a recruiter, what else can I do besides
recruit?  

That's like saying, hmmm people are buying cars.  They all
have the common need - get to point B from point A.  Some,
though, prefer mercendes benz to a yugo.  *And* they are
willing to invest.

*Now* is the time to reflect and relearn.  Don't say, we've
always done business this way, we'll continue until the earth
stops rotating.  Always be willing to evolve and meet your
customers needs.
