Ecards for both Business and Personal
Good morning,
When you think of search engines, I'll bet
you immediately gyrate towards finding
resumes. Clients. Networking. Free
software. The updates on the last episode
of Andromeda. Things like that.
I'm certain you're aware of all the free e-card
sites, such as http://www.bluemountain.com
,
http://www.hallmark.com , etc. And
they do
provide a great service indeed. But what if you
want to send a focused ecard to a client or candidate
or heck, even your loved one for Valentine's Day
hint hint hint? Is it possible to fine-tune your
searches and uncover ecard sites that really
show your recipient that you know them
well?
Of course, the answer (as is in many recruiting
online searches) lies in Google. Perhaps you want
to send an ecard to a business client. As well
as the usual choices, you can go to Google at
http://www.google.com and search for
e-cards
like so:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=e-cards&btnG=Google+Search
Ignore the individual results for the moment and check
out the category listed:
Computers > Internet > E-mail > Electronic Postcards > Occasions
at
http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/E-mail/Electronic_Postcards/Occasions/
. You can use the Edit | Find option at the top of
your browser to search for 'business' or 'office' - you'll
eventually come across http://www.cybergreetings.com/
that some neat business cards under their category "Misc.".
That's a very simple way to finding generic
e-card sites. What if you want to be more
specific? Perhaps you'd like to send an
ecard that is centered around roses to a spouse
or family member. You could search on
roses e-cards
and come up with http://www.virtualflorist.com/
.
But wait! What if you also want to include music
or a poem? You can refine your search to be:
roses e-cards poem
and come up with http://www.angeleyes2.com
- a
simply superb, free ecard site that has dozens
of categories (not only flowers but also
Looney Tunes, Unicorns, Dragons, Babies, and Patriotic,
to name a few) plus the ability to add music, a
pre-written poem and more.
Is your intended more of a practical nature?
Perhaps he or she has a particular favorite
gourmet food. Searching on
gourmet e-cards
like so:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=gourmet+e-cards&btnG=Google+Search
will bring to you Mail-A-Meal at
http://www.mailameal.com/ , where
you can
email a picture of, well, gourmet meals.
Is a particular religion of interest? Searching
on
hindu e-cards
reveals http://www.indiadivine.com/postcard/
, searching on
mormon e-cards
reveals
http://www.lds-living.com/postcards/composition-lds.html
.
Wait! Recruiter cards, I hear you ask? I built those
myself last year - if you search for that on Google,
you'll come up with http://www.barbaraling.com/cards/card.html
.
And what if you want to create your own e-cards with your
own images and music for your clients and candidates?
It's a very simple thing to do - the script is available
for free at http://www.bignosebird.com/carchive/cardcgi.shtml
.
Reaching out and touching someone electronically can
be a very effective way of making a positive impression.
Taking the time to research specific interests further
can make that positive impression even more stronger.
ThankYouVeryMuch!
