UPS (parallel without redundancy) - A UPS made up of several (n) parallel-connected UPS units with equal output ratings (P) and each equipped with its battery, for large loads. The total output is equal to the number of units multiplied by their individual output (n x P). In this configuration, no UPS unit is redundant.
Load (linear) - Load for which voltage form and current form are similar. Voltage and current are related by Ohm's law U(t) = Z x I(t).
Circuit breaker (battery) - DC circuit breaker that protects the battery of a UPS.(back)
Trickle Charge - A charge at a low rate, balancing losses through local action and/or periodic discharge, to maintain a cell or battery in a fully charged condition.
AB5 - A metal alloy (e.g., LaNi5) capable of undergoing a reversible hydrogen absorption/desorption reaction as the battery is charged and discharged, respectively.
Wall-less Design - A battery design where the structural support for the cells is formed by an open plastic framework.
Dry Cell - A cell with immobilized electrolyte. The term "dry cell" is often used to describe the Leclanche cell.
