Polarization - The lowering of the potential of a cell or electrode from its equilibrium value caused by the passage of an electric current.
Temperature Cutoff (TCO) - A protective or safety device (e.g., thermostat, PTC, etc.) which senses temperature (e.g., in a battery) and opens or cuts off the electrical circuit if the specified temperature is exceeded, thus preventing a further rise in temperature due to the charge or discharge of a battery.
Rated Capacity - The number of ampere-hours a battery can deliver under specific conditions (e.g., rate of discharge, end voltage, temperature); usually specified by the battery manufacturer.
ISO 9002 - Standard defining procedures and systems used to attain an internationally recognized level of production quality. ISO 9002 certification is proof that the quality system effectively complies with the standard. Certification is carried out by an official organization (AFAQ), unaffiliated with either clients or suppliers or the company itself, and is valid for a three-year period with yearly audits and checks.
Earthing system TT - Earthing system in which the neutral and the exposed conductive parts are directly earthed. The installation must be de-energized immediately in the event of an insulation fault.
Electrolyte - The medium which provides the ion transport mechanism between the positive and negative electrodes of a cell.
Ambient Humidity - The average humidity of the surroundings.
