Trickle Charge - A charge at a low rate, balancing losses through local action and/or periodic discharge, to maintain a cell or battery in a fully charged condition.
Polarity - In electricity, the condition of being positive or negative.
Gravimetric Energy Density - The ratio of the energy output of a cell or battery to its weight (Wh/kg). This term is used interchangeably with specific energy.
Load (non-linear) - Load (generally with a switched-mode power supply) generating major harmonic currents. Current wave form is different from voltage wave form. Ohm's law is not applicable. It can be used only with each harmonic.
Output (rated) - Apparent power Pn that the UPS can deliver under given load conditions (power factor = 0.8).
Parallel - Term used to describe the interconnection of cells or batteries in which all the like terminals are connected together. Results in increased capacity.
Thermostat - A temperature sensitive switch.
