Dry Cell - A cell with immobilized electrolyte. The term "dry cell" is often used to describe the Leclanche cell.
Series - The interconnection of cells in such a manner that the positive terminal of the first is connected to the negative terminal of the second, and so on, resulting in increased voltage.
Power source (alternate) - Backup source used in the event of a mains failure. The connection time and the duration of the source depend on the type of source used. (back)
Voltage (float) - DC voltage applied to the battery to maintain its charge level. This voltage depends on the type of battery, the number of cells and the manufacturer's recommendations.
Wall-less Design - A battery design where the structural support for the cells is formed by an open plastic framework.
Forced Discharge - Discharging a cell in a battery, by the other cells or an external power source, below zero volts into voltage reversal.
Overcharge - The forcing of current through a cell after all the active material has been converted to the charged state, that is, continued charging after reaching 100 percent state-of-charge.
