Redundancy (active) - Parallel UPS configuration in which several UPS units with equal outputs are parallel connected and share the load. In the event one UPS unit fails, the other units pick up its share without any interruption in the supply of power to the load. (back)
Cycle Life - The number of cycles under specified conditions which are available from a secondary battery before it fails to meet specified criteria as to performance.
Passivation - The phenomenon by which a metal, although in conditions of thermodynamic instability, remains indefinitely unattacked because of modified or altered surface conditions.
Voltage Depression - An abnormal drop in voltage below expected values during the discharge of a battery.
Coulomb - The amount of electricity transported by a current of one ampere flowing for one second.
Capacity Retention (or Charge Retention) - The fraction of the full capacity available from a battery under specified conditions of discharge after it has been stored for a period of time.
Earthing system TN - Earthing system in which the exposed conductive parts are interconnected and connected to the neutral. The neutral is connected to the earth. The installation must be de-energized immediately in the event of an insulation fault.
