Averting your future income death – Part 1

No Poor!Morning!

Unless you’re a weee bit of a comatose conch shell or a dozing donkey or a slumbering sloth, you might have noticed…

The economy, she ain’t too robust!

Horrible gas prices were one thing…but the economic woes that are snapping at our heels is a ‘whole ‘nother thing entirely.   There’s a good possibility that your spouse might get laid off, your current online business might dry up faster than a fighter jet falls without fuel, and all in all…..your financial flow will jam up MORE as opposed to LESS.

Eh, these things happen.  I weathered the last one in 2000 and will weather this one as well.  Here’s how!

NOTE!Idea #1.) Ensure your future business targets the needs of people who will spend money.

Sure, we can all talk about being a pro-blogger and generating a huge following etc.etc.etc.  And if you’re one of those special few, you should have no real worries for this economy drop.

But!  If you’re selling products online, you want to ensure your audience is able to BUY.   And that might mean switching your targeted niche focus.

No matter who lousy the economy becomes, some facts still remain the same.   People will still:

  • Use energy (heat the house)
  • Save money (lower the bills)
  • Try to stay healthy (costs less money than being sick)
  • Indulge in guilty pleasures (sex, coffee, drinking, gambling, etc.)

Can you think of ways to sell products in the above niches?

Next, make sure your business will:

NOTE!Idea #2.)  Build your list!

There’s a reason why gurus shout from the rooftops – build your list!  Even if the product you end up selling is only $7 or $27 or $97 or what have you….by building your list, you can then utilize affiliate marketing and offer your list members other superb products that deliver to you a commission.

I’ve been building my list now since 1999 in various and sundry enterprises, and it always treats me well.   Because of the reputation I’ve developed, I’ve been able to market excellent products like:

Secretsetc. and thus help out my list members while bringing in income for me.  If you don’t have your own list, you’re losing money hand over fist!   Check out my product No Hype, Just What Works: Secrets To Adding a Newsletter To Your Blog The RIGHT Way…The FIRST Time to learn more.

And for my 3rd tip, please do ensure:

NOTE!Idea #3.)  Get known as an authority figure in your field!

It’s well-known that people want to buy from those whom they perceive to be the tops in their industry.  Becoming a subject matter expert or authority figure will aid towards building up the confidence and willingness to purchase from your future customers.

Authority Blogger has a great resource for this.

Remember, the economy IS failing right now…but that doesn’t mean your future income has to take a nosedive as well!

Re-evaluate where you are and where you want to be…and then make it happen.  You’re the only one who can.

Enjoy,

Barbara Ling

Hi James!

I don’t think the problem is on my end – have you contacted Akismet to see about being unbanned? That happened to me as well; a few exchanges solved the issue.

Love how you started a new blog to get your point across too! Very smart.

Best wishes, Barbara

i’m back. :D woohoo! was surprised by how rapid the akismet response was. wasted time moping (but then again, we should allow ourselves that luxury sometimes, i think.). but when i sent in word of the problem, i received an email very quickly afterwards. and it appears to have worked. :)
