I REALLY want to beat someone up!

Morning all,
Today is Week 2 in my insane work mode (18 hour days plus garage sale prepping for Fri/Sat)! The good news is the end truly is in sight…and the bad news is, well, I really want to beat someone up.
But it’s not what you think!
You see, one of my favorite activities is karate sparring. This wondrous activity has me wearing fighting gear (head protector, chest protector, gloves, feet, etc.) and going toe-to-toe with black belts who could easily mop the floor with me. Still, though, it’s most character-building indeed – there’s something about being able to utterly let go (with control, of course) and fight to your best ability that really releases any inner tensions/stress that work has built up.
My insane work mode has me working when I’m awake…and sleeping when I’m not. I’m reminded of the classic essay, Why Startups Aren’t Gothic:
…And then you’ll stop going to clubs because you need all your spare time for sleeping…
Being a one-woman show is the exact same way!!
I’m really feeling my lack of extreme sports right now. True, I did manage to weight lift at home and do my usual karate kicks/punches/etc during the afternoons….but wow, I just plain miss throwing myself into it all.
Ah well, these things happen – perhaps next week I shall be back to non-insanity and able to return to my sparring again!
And that’s me whine for the morning,
Barbara
ps – speaking about sparring, have you seen:

That is an excellent way to work out. I just recently bought a punching bag for the garage and some gloves as a way to work out to lose weight. I wear wrist weights for more impact! And it feels absolutely GREAT working up a sweat and punching the stress away. I’ve personally never heard of karate sparring, but it sounds like loads of fun

I agree with you on that point that Karate is the best way to release tension and stress because I’m practicing it for 6 years now and every time I feel bad or tense I just make some moves and do some practice and I become relaxed fast.
and as for a girls doing Karate, at my practice group we have more girls than boys so I think a lot of girls do that, even more than boys. At least in my group.
