Covert Angel time – Rescuing your friends’ personal domain name site!
Oct 21st, 2008 | By Barbara | Category: 2010 Economy, Coaching, InsightsIf there’s one thing I really adore in life (besides my family and coffee and friends and coffee and karate sparring and coffee and family and …), it’s doing good deeds for the folks who make my world ‘go round.
Since 2001, I’ve been maintaining a site for a brilliant PR marketer (and wonderful friend). Alas, in 2005…he missed on the renewal of his domain name…and lost the site entirely (a squatter bought it).
Not fear, figured I…turning on a dime, I had him register a variant of his name and rebuilt everything from the ground up. And life was good.
Well! Enter this morning. I was updating the site to incorporate a really super coolio neato idea that I’ve been designing for the past 2 weeks…and idly decided to check if his name ever became available again.
And lo and behold, it was!!
A site was never registered so fast in the history of the Internet.
I am BEYOND thrilled to have gotten his name back for him!!
As you know, owning your own domain name online is KEY and critical to your business success – it provides you with a sterling brilliant shining area in which you can sell your qualities to potential employers, customers, clients and the like.
So! Because I’ve taught my friend lots about Internet marketing, he knows the importance of the above…and I cannot wait to see his reaction when he sees his site back up once again.
Now all I have to do is rebuild it.
But hey, that’s what friends are for.
Thus, let’s now bring this post back to the most important person reading it…you!
You know, I’ve heard of "Random acts of kindness for strangers"….and while that’s very worthwhile indeed, it’s the acts of kindness you do for YOUR FRIENDS that really makes the sun shine brighter.
If the opportunity pops up that you can help your friends out with little effort on your part (or heck, even a lot of effort)…really, you truly should do that. We’re all fellow travelers in this thing called "life"….and what goes around, comes around.
I really treasure the day my friend first walked into my life…it’s going on 8 years now that I’ve known him, and I thank my guardian angel every day that he’s a soul-friend of mine and part of my life.
I’d write even more profound things right now…but it’s now 4:51am and I’ve been up since 3am. Time to actually take a nap.
So…..don’t hesitate when an opportunity pops up to look out for your friends. It’s a great thing to do!
Enjoy,
Barbara Ling
