<yaaawwwwwn> it’s close to late-morning, mind you (it’s around 4:13am) but after the first liberal application of the Beverage of the Gods (ie, coffee), I’m feeling my neurons start to crackle and seeing my fingers start to dance. As the dancing is resulting in actual words emerging on the screen
(and NOT the actual spillage coffee into my keyboard)
I imagine this is a Good Thing.
And onto today’s post! Recently, I’ve been seeing several brililant and creative popular bloggers and other wonders of the Internet offer free newsletters and/or ezines. I do myself, of course, at http://www.barbaraling.com/newsletter; 4 others that you should definitely sing up for include:
- Nicky510 - awesome cartoons, excellent photography and witty insights
- Web 2.0 Spoter - this guy knows BOTH marketing AND fixing techie things
- Gary Conn - signup is at the end
- John Chow - the ‘Make Money’ ebook form
- Problogger - Darren Rowse’s goodies
I’d list more….but most bloggers depend upon their RSS feeds to gather an audience. Got suggestions? Make sure you list them below!
Anywhos, back to the topic at hand. If you’re running a blog, you simply HAVE to have a newsletter. Have to, have to have to… because it (all together now!)
Increases Your Reach
When you operate your own newsletter, you are being given permission to PROACTIVELy contact individuals in the future.
Do you know what that means?
It means….
Followup Service and Followup Marketing and Followup Goodies and ….
In other words, you can benefit subscribers and thank them for their patronage by:
- Offering them special tricks/tips the general RSS visitors DOESN’T see
- Offering them discounts to valued products (you can contact product designers and see if they’d give your list members a special discount like NewWebSite does for mine (drop me a line for that particular goodie)
and you in turn can benefit by using your affiliate link in special promotions and alerting your list to those power tools too!
The art of setting up an EFFECTIVE mailing list is one that is easily learned. And coming this Friday, I’ll be sharing the one critical tip you must include whenever you create your newsletter; your subscription rate will zoom up because of it.
Stay tuned,
Barbara Ling

Once a couple more blogs are fully operational, I will be offering a 4-in-1 blog update newsletter once per week, among other things of course.
Just think similar to “4 feeds 1 email”, how cool is that? LOL
