Morning!
You know, it’s obvious to me that everything happens for a reason! Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s, I because quite adept at bunches of affiliate marketing tips; how to promote, how to teach one’s affiliates, how to sell multiple clickbank products via one clickbank login, etc.etc.etc.
And now as a problogger, I’m really discovering all this arcane knowledge is really helping me grow! Thus, I’m going to be writing some easy how-tos for people who have products they want to market via their blogs.
Here’s one of my favorite tips. Let’s say that you have set up a Clickbank or e-Junkie etc. account and know what your affiliate link will be that you deliver to your affiliates (ie, for my 21 Days product, it’s
www.virtual-coach.com/click.php?p=1&a=YOURID
where YOURID is your clickbank ID.
The affiliate link from Clickbank/eJunkie/etc. is called a "hoplink". Remember this – it will be very important.
Now, my product pages are sales pages; that was how I envisioned it in the first place.
But many bloggers will have have discussed their product via a previous blog post (ie, a free page to provide incentive, offer a LITE version, etce.etc.etc.etc.).
Did you know that you can set your hoplink to go to your FREE pages…and not the final sales page?
And that if you include the vendor-provided actual sales link on subsequent pages, your affiliate will STILL get the credit?
I just implemented that myself yesterday! Check out where these two links bring you:
www.virtual-coach.com/click.php?p=6&a=lingstar
www.virtual-coach.com/click.php?p=5&a=lingstar
Not a product page at all….BUT! The affiliate ID will be set in case a viewer decides to buy in the future.
Do a test yourself!
First, visit:
www.virtual-coach.com/click.php?p=6&a=seoprofits
(See that affiliate ID? It’s "seoprofits". That means that when you get to the order page, you want to see "seoprofits" is credited as the affiliate).
You’ll be at my newsletter. Pretend you had arrived there by someone promoting my newsletter link, and say to yourself, gee! I wonder what’s in Products. That link is up in my main navigation, 5th one over.
Click on Products and then click on Secrets to Adding a Newsletter To Your Blog…the RIGHT way, the FIRST time.
Click on Order.
Click on
Click HERE to save 30% and receive all three
(You’re not going to enter your credit card information – I want you to see the following).
Scroll down and what do you see?
[affiliate = seoprofits]
Thus, even though you arrived to my site via a non-sales page (my newsletter, my main site, my humor category, etc.), should you buy in the future…the original affiliate who sent you that link will get the affiliate credit.
Nice, eh?
This means you can give affiliates another reason to add your site to their blogroll, you can give those affiliates who are shy about selling on their blogs yet still want to make money a reason to promote you, and the like.
Lots of cool things you can do for your affiliates to make marketing your products much much easier and more profitable for them!
Enjoy,
Barbara Ling
