Give yourself permission to succeed TODAY!!!!

Howdy,

I am sooo freakin’ exhausted I can barely see straight….but my gosh! I’m incredibly proud of myself as well.

You might be asking right now, golly Barbara, shouldn’t you be at your beloved Adult Karate sparring by now?

And yes indeed, I currently AM missing my favorite activity.

And here’s why!!

Long long ago, back before the earth’s crust cooled, when dinosaurs roamed the land, when …. okay, back in January, I mastered the art of vBulletin forum creation.  Let me tell you, I spent literally hundreds of hours teaching myself how to make that puppy sing!

Then for reasons known only to myself  , I put the project on hold, and returned to blogging…building up BarbaraLing.com to the site you see today.

Zoom up to about 2 hours ago….I am driving myself BATTY regarding effective commenting on my blog.  Perhaps it’s because I have yet to upgrade WordPress to 2.5.1 (2.3 seems to be working, ummm, fine?  Kinda sorta maybe?)…but every blasted commeting goodie I try to add…..laughs hysterically in my face.

Wah!

But then…then….THEN I remembered, golly gee, vBulletin has an awesome fantastic commenting ability….and it even integrates with WordPress!

That’s the good news.

The Bad Horrible More Angsting News Than seeing my child teach himself about Roller Coaster Tycoon by finding:

is…..

I forgot everything I did.   WAH!

You see, when I hack… I HACK!  I cause angels to sing and unicorns to prance….

and rainbows to emerge and…well, I can do some pretty awesome things when I think outside the box.

BUT!  If I don’t stay abreast of it, I kinda sorta file all my newfound brilliance into various recesses of my mind and forget all about it.

Until 2 hours ago…when I sat down, told myself in no uncertain terms

I can DO THIS!

and made a promise to myself I wouldn’t move from the computer until I was successful.

Took me 2 hours (hence no adult sparring) but….

I DID IT!

Well, okay, I did the main integration stuff – I still have several days’ worth of extra hacking to perform, but wow, I’m feeling mighty buff right about now.  Utterly drained, mind you, completely spent, but wow, MOM ROCKS! (as my kids would say).

And that, of course, brings me to you.

Have you ever been faced stark, utter, OMIGOSH, I JUST CANNOT DO THIS! feelings?  You know, the kind of black-hole energy-sapping ego-smooshing inferiority-complexing emotions that paralyze your very limbs, making it impossible for  you to even dare to achieve the greatness you know is within you?

Hmmmm?

How do you choose to deal with this?

Hmmm?

Here’s what works for me!  I simply tell myself….sure, yeah, perhaps….maybe I can’t if I try…. but I DEFINITELY can’t if I DON’T!

So what if I don’t achieve the goals for which I’m striving right now…that doesn’t mean that after a good nights’ sleep, I can’t tackle them tomorrow, or next week, or next month, or whenever I choose to give myself permission to succeed.

Such an attitude like the above…it makes ALL the difference.

And I think that’s a pretty spiffy way to close the workweek!
