Be a hero and proactively avert online disaster for your real life friends
Welcome! If you're new to my site, click HERE to let me show you where the best benefits for yourself are located. Thanks for visiting!
You’re an active blogger, right?
If so, you have most likely internalized how to keep track of yourself on the Blogosphere. Wouldn’t you agree?
In other words….
You’re well-versed with creating alerts for yourself via Google Alerts and seeing when your blog is written about, or when your Twitter name is mentioned, or when….right?
Tell me now:
Do you put this knowledge to use for your real life friends too?
Hmmm?
I’m a firm believer in what goes around, comes around.…and so I have personally and proactively created Google news alerts for all of my friends and colleagues. And indeed several times, I’ve been able to catch ahead of time when my colleagues were being mentioned (positive OR negative) and drop them a line as to the postings involved.
This tiny bit of effort has resulted in an enormous amount of goodwill! And yet, it’s simple and easy to accomplish. You’re looking out for your less-tech-savvy friends…often resulting a positive benefit for them as well.
Thus, I’d like to encourage you to set up alerts for the people who are dear to you so you can look out for them on the Wild Wild West known as the Internet. The benefits reaped go a long way towards strengthening one’s boundaries of friendship.
And that, of course, is an Undeniable Good Thing .
Enjoy,
Barbara Ling

Hi Barbara,
What a grand idea. I would have never thought of that.
You’re right, it does show goodwill and is a good thing.

Barbara, this is a great idea. I must set up a few of these and see how it works for others.
Thanks!

I also use it for my teen daughters - when they get mentioned in newspapers I’m the first to know and I don’t miss anything. I suppose it would help if they were up to no good on the web, too!
