Karate tournaments, kid raising, site updating and more

Morning!

Ah, while work is always useful and keeps my kids in Trigonometry, I will admit – relaxation and fun also has quite a lot to recommend for it!

Yesterday I attended a karate tournament to take pictures. As it was 5 hours long, my kids chose not to attend (but they want to compete in June). Several of the dojo senseis were there, so I was able to learn the finer points about karate tournaments, politics and the like. It was tiring but most enjoyable as well.

Kid-wise, my eldest has internalized the importance of time management and striving to achieve instead of slacking off. My gosh, that had to be one of the THE toughest emotional experiences I’ve had to date with my children; knowing when to bend, when to stand firm, when to witness tears, when to comfort, when to challenge, etc…..it’s more draining than adult karate sparring. But! The lesson seems to have been learned…and if that’s the case, the pain with which I dealt was well-worth it indeed.

Today I have to set up my new blog layout for BarbaraLing.com and put into place all the Internet marketing techniques I’ve been refining now since, gosh, 1998. Big day ahead.

Time to make the coffee,

Barbara

ps – speaking about karate!
